I voted 2.4TDCi as that what our new one has!

However I have a feeling it may be the most unpopular engine here. Oh well - the "bump" on the bonnet looks quite cool.

Actually think my 35d unit (in our BM 335d) is one of the best diesel units out there. Almost 300bhp (most kick out over 300 once run in), 428lbs-ft yet an easy mid 30s to the gallon and low emissions. Would be fun to stick one in a Landy!

Unlike the 2.4 - low power, fairly modest torque, huge emissions and sourced from a Transit - LOL!

mike at Dynachip has already done the conversion using the twin turbo 3 litre X5 sd engine into a defender

Always loved the thought of the V8 from an BMW e34 540i in a Defender. Wiring would prob be a mare though for someone with such crap wiring capabilities as moi.lol

i have a 2.5 petrol in mine and to be fair it aint that bad an engine apart from the fuel consumption.

200tdi going in at end of month so hopefully thatl get my vote :)

Had a td, converted that to a 200, alongside 2x td5s, and a 2.4 puma. I'd say the 200 is the best engine, but I can't complain about my puma so I voted for that! Power, economy, quick (well for a standard Landy) and pretty quiet too! My every day car. Wouldnt recommend a td5 tho, don't get me wrong I love em just for the noise, but they're pretty crap really, not much power, thirsty and lots of problems!

300tdi gets my vote.
I do 130 miles a day in mine and at present I an getting 33.5mpg! It has taken a couple of months of fettling to get it that good, but now it's running well. May look at a Roverdrive when cash-flow allows.

i have a HS 2.8 TGV motor in my defender 90 which is basicly a development of the 300tdi im getting between 28-33 mpg these engines where built by international motors in south america theyve taken the 300tdi and bored and stroked it and put bigger turbo

When I first got my 200, I was mega impressed with that (only thing I had for comparison was the 19j I had previously) but I've been driving a 300 for a few days now, which I am also dead impressed with.

Must admit I would love to have a drive of a TD5, just for comparison really.

Do you really think they'd let a scruffy looking 19 year old in a scruffy looking 21 year old Landy 110 drive one of their nice shiny posh vehicles? :D:D

Would love to but they would probably realise that I just want a free drive with no intention of buying from them :p
