Hi there,

Yep... Yet more money to spend on the old girl but a man always needs a project.

As the title suggests I'm after the best capacity and reliable battery, what would you suggest?

Halfords with a trade card, Yuasa is a decent make.
I fitted a Numax on mine cant say its any better than a std battery and if replacing it again it would be bog std job, 069 is the model number Iirc?

Edit halfords list tham as an 072.

Correct battery is an 072 - BUT there are different capacities of 072's  ..

I wouldn't bother with one on that basis - get the battery megastore 1000CCA one and be done with it IMHO :)

^^ this! Get the biggest battery you can physically fit in the box. Highest CCA and highest Amp/h rating possible. Measure the battery box and then look at battery dimensions to guide your choice.

Make sure the terminal posts are in the same positions as the original battery, so the leads go straight on.

Yep :) Tis one of them - they seem to have different brands over time - but, 1000CCA, 115Ah and four year warranty for £91 ! what's not to like !!??!! :)

And that price is delivered anorl....

Just had a look for the so called "right" battery for a D1 - out of interest..... they recommend 540CCA, 60Ah,  which IMHO is complete and utter cobblers - oh yeah, it's £85 too :mad::mad::mad:

Euro car parts. When they are doing 50% off batteries or your first order. Then you can justify getting the better battery.

I would say, the biggest that fits with the terminals on the right place. If there's different prices for the 'same' battery, look at the number of years guarantee

Dont forget as its now cold you need to reverse the battery cables to make sure the battery stays warm

Someone gave me the same advice, it frazzled and banged a little bit, I think something went wrong as it doesn't work at all now...;)

Thanks for the response everyone, going by dimensions and capacity I think I'll go with the
643/644 Hankook MF31-1000 Heavy Duty Car Battery 12V 115AH
As suggested, some very good reviews.

Thanks again!
