The previous owner of my 110 replaced the sills with box section.

Im currenly replacing the bulkhead with a galvanised one, and the C-posts have holes in them, but the B-posts seem fine.

The box section is currently welded to the A-post foot, but ill get the grinder on that.


My question -

Im tempted to get the B-posts hot dipped, so -

a) should i just leave the box section in place, or
b) chop it all about, and replace with some sills from YRM (or similar)



C-post is an easy repair, and, again, B-posts look fine.

You can see the edge of the box section there. Box is all solid enough.

Truck has no trim covering the box, which looks a little odd at the wheel arches. Might want to fit rock sliders at some point in the future.
 
Personally I'd fit some new galv rails from yrm , I know the box is ok but can't see the point in galving the bulkhead and b post the putting them on a bit of old box . If at some point that box rots do you really want to be chopping it all up when it's all sorted plus it will be easier to fit rock sliders or steps to the proper rails , also you could ask yrm if you could have none galv ones then assemble it up and get the lot galved yourself.
 
The box is fine. I know there's browning, but ive purchased brand new steel with more surface rust. Some bits of it are still grey - i dont think they did the job long before they sold the vehicle.

If i keep it, it will get dipped with the b and c posts attached, so it will all come back shiny.

But if i wasnt swinging either way, i wouldnt be asking here - i just dont want to claim the existing box isnt good steel.


I need to look at how the stock 110csw works, i think. I mean, if the stock sills are just a bit of C section, exactly the same as the box i have here, just with a few holes drilled for mounting stuff, then it seems crazy to spend out £100 in YRM parts to do nothing more than turn some box into C section, and get a few holes.

Admittedly, i need to do somthing to the front, where it bolts to the A pillar foot, but thats not exactly an involved fabrication.


I guess what i should be asking is if the stock sills are just C section with some holes, or if theyre somehow more than the box i have fitted?
 
They are just c Chanel with holes , all the holes are were the floor plates and seat belt fit too also the brackets for fitting the Ali sill plates and other stuff fit to. Can get you some pics or the underneath tomorrow if you'd like , see if that helps make your mind up got to put my 110 over the pit to do an oil leak .

Ive spend a while on google, looking at photos, but they dont really show much. Most are just from the top or the side, and you cant really tell whats going on.
