Why do I like Land Rover
I got the 91 say by accident
I always wanted a 4 runner
But all the ones I looked at were small and junk
But there were several range rovers
Available
So I went and looked at them
The 91 had the heater assembly removed
But I drove it anyway
This was October 2009
It was a wow
Drove like a sports car very smooth
Didn’t get it
Went for a drive to look at another
It sold before I got there
Then drove a decked out discovery it
Ran hot
Went back and got the 91
Brought it home and next morning would not start
It had rained
Guess it was wet
That’s went I said to myself
What did I get myself into
Thought I had screwed up
But
After driveing it
I was hooked
Joined land rovers only and started asking questions
And figured it out
Drove it till it started overheating
About 5 years
The floor boards were out
They were patched already
Had the heads reworked and reinstalled
Still over heated
Also the drivers door wouldn’t stay closed anymore
So I felt I had gotten all I could out of that one
So I started looking
A friend had sent me a text with the 92
I waited a year before I looked for it
Found it
Good deal there
Did I mention I was hooked
These trucks are by far worth what it takes to keep them
If someone wants one here
All they have to do is hunt it down
I got the brown church rack at the junk yard
I have seen really nice rovers scrapped
But I salvaged as much as I could before they were shredded
Guess that sums it up
You asked

I did ask & I appreciate your answer, but what I was really getting at was why a 'foreign' RR as opposed to Jeep, Chevy Blazer etc.?

nb: sorry guys, but I feel justified in spelling J..P in full as the OP is in home territory

Good question
I guess good things just happen
I go to junk yards a lot
They are filled with Jeep’s and at one time blazers
I didn’t want one of those
Another expensive junker
I didn’t go out and say
I’m going to get a Land Rover
It just happened
I always thought they were for the wealthy
I was wrong
They are for people who want to stand out
When I drive the classic
Everyday
I am the only one
There are more in the area
But only a few
Also I’m an army brat
Born in Germany
Lived in different parts of the world
But mostly in USA
And hey
We did our dna
And it’s like 100%
European
Mostly from Britain and scandanavia
Guess it is in my blood
To love
My Range Rover
They were ahead of there time
And easy to work on

Thank you
I take the that as a compliment
The accident of being a rover owner
Turned out to be awesome
I like my story of ownership
I’m sure there are more
Interesting story of how people got and why they got
There first Land Rover

And you guys
Landyzone is alive

Thanks for the reply Mikieman, you obviously have good taste ;)
Enjoy your Classic as so many of us 'over here' do.
I'm on my fourth (& best) since my first in 2001, won't entertain a later model.
