ok so my disco 300tdi has been having LOTS of issues.
so i'll start with what has been done.
new fuel pump
new p gasket
new water pump gasket
new filters (air, oil and fuel)
sedamentor removed
intercooler and pipes removed and cleaned
inlet manifold removed and cleaned (refitted with new gasket)
EGR blanked off and removed straight through pipe from intercooler to inlet
cyclone breather removed and cleaned
new thermostat fitted

MPG is still only around 26 and i have noticed that around 2700rpm to 3100rpm it stutters not enough to make the car judder but enough to see it if you look at the needle on the rev clock.

running out of things to check/change or remove any suggestions guys. besides that i have a nice single knock sound changing up/down gears or going on or off the power thought it was the uj's but dropped the props and they seem fine. best place to start to look for that be handy too.

as always thanks for any replies guys.

You do not say,

Is it Auto or Manual?

Have you tried driving it in diff lock with one of the props removed to see if the knock is still there?

Cheers

Also, does it stutter in every gear at those revs?

Accelerating and decelerating?

Cheers

"MPG is still only around 26"

I don't think we have ever got that high a figure with our TD5. Are TD5 engines naturally thirstier?

before my fuel and oily air intake issues i was getting around 32mpg from what i can tell anything from 30-34 is about normal for the 300tdi so as i have changed most things now im lost as to why i cant regain the rest.

Was teh fuel pump set correctly? are you getting a lot of smoke?

I used to get around 30 with my 300tdi,

With the Td5 D2, I average on a lot of short journeys approx 26, but on a longer mixed run, including town and cross country I get around 30.

Cheers

set correctly! you talking about the fuel pump or injection pump and little to no smoke from my disco :)

Well,

As you put fuel pump in your OP, I took it you meant the FIP, which is fuel injection pump. So you tell me........:p:p ..Or did you really mean the lift pump?

Cheers

You ant bi chance GEARED the Blo*dy thing by puttin BIG tyres on have you ??:rolleyes::oops:

dougnut is changed that was done on the monday. tires are not over sized im not a tyre freak im happy with the size on there 235/70 R16 AT.
as for the speedo issue that turned out to be a dead wire. changed the wiring and its been fine ever since. the only here and there problem i get still is the fuse for the clocks every now and then it decides i dont need to know my speed, rev's, temp or fuel readings and i dont need warning lights haha. removing blown fuse hitting the fuse box and replacing the fuse fixes it normally for 2 or 3 months haha

Have you tried running speedo against sat nav ? mine say's that my speedo is 2 mph slow yours may be more !!

my speedo is out with satnav. at 30mph clocks im doing about 28mph satnav at 70mph clocks im doing 64 satnav. so that would put my MPG even lower if i worked from that haha so for now lets not go there.
my main concern at the moment is the knock only way i can explain it is its the same type of noise/feeling as a screwed gearbox/engine mount on a ford mondog lol
