We have got a defender 90 on a 2" lift. It's currently is running INSA turbos 285/76/16 on standard freestyle alloys.

We are wanting to widen things up and already have 2" extension kit from MM 4x4 waiting.

However I want to keep the same tyres but want to know the best modular wheels and offset I need. If I leave the same ones on it will look rubbish but do I need an ET of 0, -25, -32 or -35. 7" or 8" wide?
I don't want the to stick out further than the new arches.

Hope you can help
Jim

black round ones on blacker rounder ones are best whilst trying to shove stupid tyre questions up your arse

Dr evil stop :emps1: the poor git and give him a chance to rectify his mistake,

Scurry along Jim quickly to the introduce yourself section before others get sarky !

He's already bypassed the intro section and come straight in with the dumbest question possible  luckily I have welding to do but wolf will probably be along soon to take my place

If my mistake is not posting in the introduce myself part (big sorry ) but I thought the question was simple.....

just needed a little help to get it right...... :bolt:

Jim it has been asked to death to the point some of us make up new and interesting ways to have "what tyre size" in our title. Look at the sticky about tyre sizes :)

Sorry, could find loads on tyre sizes, but did not want to change the tyres, just the offset of the wheels and if it should be 7" or 8" best for 285's.

Also wanted to know if any one is running 285's on ET-35 Modular and have they got a picture.

Will keep looking.

I've got some metal dustbins at work. If you lay them on their side you could cut them in half and use those perhaps? Both halves will be different diameters due to the taper of the bin but you could put the larger ones at the back and the smaller ones at the front

No worries mate. You caught me in a good mood otherwise I might have joined in. Stick around introduce yourself and have a read of the forum and all will become clear. I would recomend Mach 5's they look smart on a defender. Not sure on the ET and all but use quality spacers to move them out a bit!

Have you found out yet that big, black not-so-knobbly tyres are best to use on the road and big black knobbly tyres are better off road?

Fitting spacers puts extra strains and over stresses your hubs and bearings. ;)

And landrover axles have weak ass bearings.....

If I have large black smooth tyres does that mean I can go through peat bogs as they'll be charmed by my landrovers Barry white impersonation ?

ignore them jimbray, now pray tell me, where art thou using such a lift and wide tyres?
