For a p38 as there wasn't one when I got it, somebody is selling one that has a max lift of 37cm but I don't think it'll be high enough..... what size do I need.

The complete factory toolkit has everything you need for a safe wheel change.
I can pump mine up and have a measure but I'm curious as to why you want something else.

I dont think max lift of 37 cm is high enough if that is from the ground.

I think id rather call out the AA then use a bottle jack, If seen them fail two or three times. At least one time was user error.

I would be soooo embarrassed to call the AA for to change a wheel
There was a time when I would have felt the same, but jacking an L322 and struggling with the wheels is now something I will step back from.
Did however help a woman, the other day, whose little SLK had a flat tyre. World of difference. Although was embarrassed for her, not having a clue how to change a tyre!

Oh, also embarrassed for civpol. Drove past us,on a winding road, not far from blind bend, and never even stopped.

I accept totally that there can be valid reasons for calling in help, but not knowing how to change a wheel is not one of them lol
2 years ago civpol stopped when my brother broke down close to a bend. They stopped then sent him a bill for their time as they waited for a recovery truck

Agreed. She was on phone to husband to come rescue her, when I approached. Although not sure how much use he would've been, as he damaged trim previously by jacking in wrong place images.jpeg

Cheeky sods! That's their bloody job. I hope your brother refused to pay. Slightly different if you're drunk/druggie/idiot up a mountain without right kit/etc, and through your own actions emergency services are called out. Helping people whose veh breaks down, in a dangerous place, is bread and butter for a copper.

He paid. :(
Cant remember how much
Many many moons ago, in BAOR, my Landy broke down with a puncture. Had to call out German AA as we had no tools to change wheel.
Turned out my driver had not signed out the kit as the storeman told him "Oh they are never signed out" Stores are for storing etc.
He thought this was hilarious, I was the OC Workshops, until I had the ASM tear him a new one and all tool kits were signed out to the vehicles afterwards

I might get one from the bay and no 37cm isn't high enough from the ground.

I think I'd be embarrassed to get AA or rac out for that, never had to do it and don't intend to.

This just made me think of ADAC. So went to see what they do these days. The cycle quiz was very interesting. Shame crappy cycling in this country doesn't carry the same penalties.

Get one off eBay. OE is made for the job not like a generic one. Fits in the boot space too. Standard won’t work on mine thing miss the most is storing it away tidy. Broke it popping out rather large tree stumps so they are strong enough. Trolley jack in boot is PIA

After 57 years of driving everything from cars to heavy trucks I am fully conversant in wheel changing, however age takes it's toll & these days it's the breakdown services for me ... highly unlikely for that to be the case, pensioners are rarely in a rush
I do carry the manuf. full kit though, just in case.

We were with them for a few years until they stopped dealing with peeps outside of Germany. Mega cheap. But then all good things seemed to come to an end.:(
