Im interested to see what sort of fuel economy people are getting from their Land Rovers. It would be quite easy to build a resource which will give people an idea as to what there vehicle should be doing to the gallon and may pre-empt a few breakdowns.

For this to work we need to know what vehicle and engine and a rough idea of any modifications fitted that are likely to effect economy.

This is what mines doing

Land Rover - Disco 1 300TDI
Transmission - Manual R380 Gearbox
Last tank full returned - 34mpg
Type of Driving - Road work lots of out of town but lots of hills and gear changing, Lightly laden
Mods - Standard apart from Cooper Discover All Terrain tyres.

4.0 V8 auto Disco 2. Average 17.8 mpg over the last 20k miles. Mostly motorway, the rest mountain work.

Disco2, V8, LPG.

Normal running around about: 15-16mpg on LPG, equivalent to about 26mpg in petrol money terms.

Better on a long run, up to 18-20mpg on LPG, equivalent to about 30mpg in petrol money.

10-12mpg on LPG towing the big trailer :eek: which we will be doing on Friday when we drive to to Durham.

Makes my fender 90 300tdi sound quite good at 31.7mpg on 15% SVO :)

Disco 1 300 Tdi manual

Start stop traffic, and a mix of A and B roads and a two bar roof rack. Over the last 5000 miles a constant 29.8 mpg.

Very happy with that!

1983 Series 3 petrol 2.25.
Mixture of town, A roads and green lanes.
160 miles to £50.
Too scared to work it out:D

1987 land rover 90
200 miles to £50
Disco 200 TDI converted
Dunno how to work it out

£50 divided by cost of diesel per litre = 50/1.39 = 36 litres

36 litres divided by 4.54 to get it into gallons = 7.92 gallons

200 miles / 7.92 gallons = 25mpg

My mpg is really bad then by the sound of it

Land Rover - Defender TD5 90 1999

Type of Driving - Road work lots of out of town and gear changing, Lightly laden
Mods - BFG All Terrain tyres 265.70.16, Galvanised safari roof rack, EGR removed, 2" lift Kit.

Discovery 1 300TDI
EGR removed, De-cat pipe
28mpg on the first tank full (not had it long)
Running biodiesel costing 20ppl, so 3p a mile.

need to check mine but also need enough pay to fill the tank :( mine is a disco 1 200tdi standard except roof light bar light load and usually plenty of town work so 50mph at most on the outskirt roads with a light load hoping its drinking close to 30mpg as it seems to be gentle on the fuel i do give it but then i don't drive it like a hoon like i do with my car

Does'nt matter about mpg,it's a land rover.I made some serious cut backs to run mine, stopped smoking and drinking.I feel mutch healthier and happier, especially when fueling up my landy.

1990 2.5N/A 110 Fender

I loves me Fender I does :D

88" Series 2a V8,265/75/16 insa turbos, full cage, winch, rocksliders so a bit heavier than standard. Running disco axles so 3.54 diffs plus overdrive,20 mpg on a run at 65 mph and down to about 10/12mpg round the country lanes.
