Just put in £67 after driving a total of 427 miles which worked out at an average of 29mpg. Thats probably about 50/50 long trips and local trips. Quite pleased with that as it does not differ very much at all from the 2.0LX mondeo I got rid of to get it.

just filled my 300tdi Disco up, 12 gallons to do 412miles just over 34mpg, I know my speedo is correct as I got a traffic cop mate to follow me to see how far out mine was/is but it is spot on with 235/70x16 BFG AT. That mileage included a days green laning with Yella and Dave in N Wales, towing a trailer with a weight of 2.75 tons for a 60 mile round trip and my general commute to work. I do not drive like an old granny (contrary to what yella might say) but keep the revs below 2500 in each gear just driving with the torque of the engine.

I have an auto 300tdi and get 24-25mpg, marginally better than i got before blanking the EGR & changing to K&N filter. I only do short trips mostly so I guess I can't expect much better, but she will do 30+ on a steady run fully loaded. I am going to try a Kenlowe fan next they claim 8% fuel saving? or maybe an upgraded chip and/or intercooler. ??

Just put £51 in mine which is 52 litres did 305 miles which works out at 27mpg all local trips and I just checked the tyre pressures and 3 out of 4 were low.

Mines a 2002 Td5 manual driven quite gently, EGR removed, K&N air filter and ECU tweaked, 31 to the gallon.............

Mine seems to do less to the gallon since I blanked off the EGR valve.

Probably because it's running better so yeh booting more:)

When I did mine I did'nt notice immediate mpg improvement as I was doing just that, reckon I get an extra 2 or 3 miles to the gallon.

Strangely enough farting about local trips I can easily get 500 miles to the tank but as soon as It's on a long run drops to max 450 (I do have a problem with my right food though)

Have you got rid of the cat as well? Mine definitely improved on removing the Cat and EGR.

You would recommend the cat removal then? Improved performance and mpg?
The non cat down pipe isn't that expensive either, it may be a better next step before the Kenlowe fan. I am still considering the chip mod and intercooler upgrade for better mpg but its not the cheepest job! £400 approx for the chip and £300 ish for an intercooler. The extra towing and overtaking performance would be gr8 but £700 buys a lot of diesel!!

As others have said. We are not talking a huge difference just 3 or 4 MPG. My exhaust was shot and the cat was clogged so I replaced the whole system. Didnt see the point of putting a cat back if its going to clog up. A defender front pipe will replace the cat (Check it out first as I am not 100%) and probably not V expensive. I would do a few little mods like that before spending £700!

i do about 30 mpg in a 300 tdi auto it only has about 75000 on the clock drives nice found 3 holes in the exhaust so changed that so hopeing for an improvement

the 300 tdi disco does do about 30 mpg as long as you dont hammer it i have heard of about 35 mpg but that is with a really light foot the auto is a good option if you are looking for something abit more relaxing but go for a later one if possible but be prepaired to get your hands dirty if you want landy as they are a hobby car and you need to be prepaired to learn how to do things yourself but parts are cheap but the labour charges will hurt if you keep putting it in a garage. they are easy to work on but would recommend one to anyone i am trying to get my brother to swap his heap of **** fronterra for a landy as parts are alot more expensive for it and the drive in one is **** aswell

Hi
Bought my 2001 Disco 2.5 auto 3 months ago, 58k on clock. Can't do any better than 20 mpg urban, 27 mpg combined. Would you think mine is extra thirsty, my boots are'nt that heavy

The TD5 is more thirsty than the 300tdi:mad:

Just had an email back from Famous Four Products Early 300 tdi's were non cat. The non cat version of the 300 tdi exhaust will fit any 300 disco (£67 inc) but they say i ought to check with the MOT testing station that it will pass the emissions test? Did you have any problems with emissions with your disco ? Or are they just saying this to cover themselves!!

Thanks Again:)
