202,000 miles in my 1999 TD5 auto still on original engine (and head gasket!!!!) and still going strong, though I have been through all the other usual "disco issues" over the past few years

Hello from Australia,
I have 180,000k's around 110,000 miles it is a 2004 Classic TD5 goes really well, just installed VNT and lots of other goodies would not have anything different. We do lots of miles down here in WA.

I have 126K on a 2000 TD5 auto which I have now owned for just over 3 years in which time I have put 40K on. its been great but the mileage I reckon is starting to tell. just had new steering rods, new suspension compressor, new alternator belt with tensioner and idler fitted. Good bye £900. I do wonder what is going to go next especially as I seem to have developed a slight transmission whine ? Ooooooooooops.

215,000 in my 2000 TD5 manual, had it from 60,000. Original engine but like me all the ancillary bits have seen better days! Replaced the following:

1 radiator
1 ECU
1 engine wiring loom
1 expansion bottle
1 front hub
1 front ABS sensor
1 clutch
1 set of glow plugs
1 fuel pump
1 fuel pressure regulator
1 heater matrix
1 front CV joint
1 headlight
1 front camshaft seal
1 coolant sensor
2 height sensors
2 oil coolers
2 sets of coolant hoses
5 air springs

Thats the bits I can remember! Mass air flow sensor currently disconnected as well as the EGR valve. Also need to purge the fuel system every time before starting but only an issue if I get impatient. Car goes like a rocket now (all relative though) - just under 30 to the gallon on the last long, fully loaded run. Also use 25% cooking oil when its cheap, seems to work well but God knows what it is doing to the internals !

Ours has 127k on the clock, built Nov 98 so quite an early one, registered June 1999.

We've done 36k since we put it back on the road in July 2009.

My V8 is on 58,000. I'm changing the front prop shaft as the double UJ has collapsed. I've had to refurbish all the brake calipers and I have an intermitant fault which lights the three amigos. Other than that the only problem is the fuel consumption.

I have a 51 plate ES auto just done 121000, have owned it for 4 years and bought it with 72000 and 5 previous owners.

Had new air bags at the back, new power steering pump and fuel regulator and a few other minor bits.

It is my favourite car of all time

Paul

53,000 miles on my 04 plate. Previous one was 110,000 on an "X" (2000) plate when we parted company but the engine was still a belter.

If Land Rover can build an engine as good as the TD5, why the hell can't they get all the bolt on bits so they last a bit longer?

145000, 1999 TD5 GS, still going strong although 3 amigo's have popped up now

251,000 miles on mine. Not had it long, but got loads of dealer history with it. Mabye someday, once I get bored of watching paint dry, I'll get round to reading it in detail.

Waiting for EGR removal kit to arrive, should be here in a day or 2, hopefully wil fix the lack of power below 2000rpm.

199,783 on my W reg (yr 2000) and it remains by dream car! Drives beautifully and had him from new.:):):)
