Would be interesting to see any difference between TDi and V8i! I am a fan of V8i hence have 2. Also like the 1 ton long wheel base Mk1 and 11, was offered one with an ambulance body - wish I had taken it! Looked after Landrovers in the 1960 - must have been one of the first gels, except for Land Army girls perhaps! Also, had champs and a couple of Jeeps plus a half trac. Problem, need an orange box to stand on when working under the bonnet!:D

If you're not too far from the land that time forgot, sorry, Derbyshire, you'd be quite welcome to prod around my pair.
They are both black automatics in ES trim so there's not much to choose between them. That said, the V8 is a pre-production 300 series so there are sort of bits of everything on it and the Diesel is full fat 300 spec.

The V8 feels a lot more urgent away from the line and walks all over the diesel in terms of performance. I can see why people buy diesels, though. 500+ miles between fill ups is nice.
I didn't plan to buy a diesel - it just came up locally with 70k on the clock so couldn't say no. It seems to have turned into a restoration project, though, given that it's currently being stripped for a respray... oops!

:p

My 300tdi is on 188K, but the engine has covered around 205K and still doesn't need the oil topping up between services (6K).

although my old 200 has not been out for a propper run for a few months now, the last time i looked at the miles it was near on 208000 miles.
it still goes very well, as the last time the cam belt fell to bits i was doing over 80mph on the A12 on an urgent trip....

it runs on anything within reason, but with a diesel/veggie mix it still flies along, but notice it gets a bit hot on a hot summers day..

i purchased my disco in feb 2009 with 179000 miles on the speedo,
off a friend who said it was coming to the end of its life --- WRONG..lol

must say that lots of the cooling fins on the rad have fell off - so new rad is on my wish list....

This has been running so long the mileage mine has covered has moved up two categories. Can I have another vote?

172K miles so far, ive put 14K on her since I got her last August.

I did the injector seals and full service 12K ago, she hasnt put a foot wrong since.

Just had new gear and t.box fitted, planned maintenance rather than faulty.

Cant believe Im now doing her 2nd service in less that a year!
