Did just that. I assumed it would be easy to crank the handle like on a bottle jack but it's a bit of an effort and I nearly had the handle fly back. Quite good fun getting the truck up so high though! I know what to expect now.

It isnt just the handle, also, as you have observed they dont have any side to side stablity, so you need to make sure the vehicle is chocked to the max, and everything engaged, and that the top of the jack is securely located.
I will look for the adaptor thing when I have a moment.
 
I carry a hi lift but only use in emergencies only as it's dangerous as fook!!! Me and a mate were off roading last Friday and he pulled his tyre of the rim, I'd left my jack at home and he only had the standard lr jack, we ended up snatch blocking it from a large tree and with my winch pulling his truck on its side. Scary as fook but it did the job
