I found 7 mags to be optimum for space and weight saving plus 2 bandoliers of 150 rounds and a speed loader, 2 he grenades 1 smoke, water , cleaning kit and 24 hour rations plus a knife for making sure people are dead by stabbing them.in the eye socket.

See. You know very well what I've found out. If you're armed to the teeth, you can take other peoples jack, if the need arises. Or you can force a group of people to lift your motor by hand. A hearty threat to stab out eyes always motivates the unmotivated car lifter.

I've got a high lift by t Max just got it yesterday fro 40 quid. Are they supposed to have wobbly bases?

On a very serious note, I carry a bottle and a trolley jack at all times.

More or less, yes. There is usually a pin that goes through a hole to stop the foot falling off.

Good to see you and Martin yesterday Mate. I got ripped off I think. I bought a T Max 3 tonne high lift from Tamar County for 40 quid. Then discovered I need the Defender adaptor too.!

I've also got a piece of 12 12 inch 6mm steel I keep under the matt for a bit of stability on crappy ground.
As said above the sprinter ones are quite good, there are 2 sizes I think 2 ton and 2.7 tone, both can take masses of abuse, BUT they are quite tall, so you need to makes sure you can get it under the axle with a flat tyre.
Farm/hi-lift jacks are very good but can be very dangerous.

I have a Defender adaptor in the shed you can have.
I have a genuine hilift for use in off road situations, as you say, steel plate to spread the load, plus rubber block on top of the Jack is useful, I carry chocks for the wheels too!
I have a bottle jack for tarmac wheel changes but it is no use if the thing has sunk, or for winching, or jacking to pack stones under the wheels.

I've got a bottle jack too for same reasons as you. How.much do You want for the adaptor and will it fit my T Max?

You can have it if I can find it, it is only a bit of bar with a bracket welded to it, had it for years, but never used it.
If Tmax is similar to Hilift, I dont see why not, it is a simple piece of kit.

Make sure you have a bit of practice with it before you ever need to use it in anger - I think it's well worth watching a video or two as well. These things are quite capable of maiming you, and have a deserved reputation for catching out the careless user. The force with which the handle will fly back up is quite something. Having said all that, they are very useful.

Did just that. I assumed it would be easy to crank the handle like on a bottle jack but it's a bit of an effort and I nearly had the handle fly back. Quite good fun getting the truck up so high though! I know what to expect now.+1 Using them is a skill, and worth learning to avoid injury or embarrasment!

A useful tool but only if you know how to use it. I've used them all over Africa not only as a jack but also as a winch and a spreader. I've also seen more than a few peeps lose their teeth or break fingers or arms using hi lifts. For changing a wheel they are not the ideal jack as you need to lift the body until the axle is hanging. Much better and safer to jack the axle a few inches than the body a few feet to change a wheel. JMHO
