Got home from work, fitted 2 inch spring spacers on the back of the disco to level it out after the suspension lift.
Fitted a 200 tdi prop and Gwyn Lewis drive flange.
Removed the tow bar.

Looks too big now for the 235 85 Special Tracks!
 
Drive flanges don't tend to clunk. More likely prop or diff backlash, or just a loose shock mount.
When does it do it? When taking up the drivetrain, shifting load, or continuously?

It does it the first time I pull away, if I then reverse it clunks once then again when I go forward, sometimes it does it if I back off then put my foot down. Could be a clonk not a clunk, defo from rear end though.
 
Finally decided to fire the old girl up after sitting idle for six months whilst overseas - reconnected the battery and boom, started first time, what a treat.

Check the 4 bolts holding the prop to the handbrake drum. Mine did exactly this and 3 of the 4 bolts were slightly loose.

Give the nuts on your rear shock mounts a good tightening up.
Could also be a bit of prop backlash. Engine off, neutral, handbrake on, give the prop a good twist back and forth and see what you hear. Some free movement is normal, but you want to inspect and grease the UJs there too.

Not done anything today although recently changed the rocker cover gasket to try and fix a leak, fixed that leak and found another from the sump, oil change and new gasket stuff purchased to sort that out. Changed the bearing on the belt tensioner pulley and it hasn't cured the squeak so I'm going to try the penny trick!
 
If the penny trick doesn't work try a new belt, mine was squeaking badly until it shredded itself, put a new Draco belt on and it's silent.

What's the consequences of the belt shredding itself other than needing a new belt?? Does it damage anything?? Might just replace the belt any way depending on cost.

No damage done, luckily I was only 1/2 a mile from home and the engine was still cold so managed to get it home without overheating (no power steering of course).
 
As there is a small amount of green slime starting to show on the roof I thought I would give it a clean. The car hasn't moved for 6 months - I whip off all the locks, fire her up and dip the clutch...no resistance. Popped the hood (bonnet) and there we go no clutch fluid in the reservoir. Before it was put away for winter there was no issue what so ever, what has caused this I ask, moreover how do I rectify this issue?
 
Right just bin-to-check what's upwit clutch...filled up mi reservoir, got her indoors to pump away and hey presto I have some function. Slide underneath to see if there were any signs of a leak on the slave, nothing. I will check the master tomorrow as I managed to spill fluid everywhere, but I'm confident the system just needs bleeding through.

But it must of fell out of somewhere, as I think it dunt evaporates ...:)
 
I am a big exponent of your teachings @Dippypud so, I may be deluding myself. That said, I have never checked the clutch reservoir before. Let's see what tomorrow brings.

Should be checking all fluids weekly, (on a used vehicle anyway), no nasty surprises then ...
That said brake and clutch fluid absorb water over time and lose their ability to do their job, so changing brake and clutch fluid totally every four or so years is good practice, (does depend on your climate tho) ... :)
 
Windscreen wipers are broken again. It feels like something has stripped in the driver's side wheel box. I'll be taking the dashboard apart again this evening by the look of things. It's more work now I have a bunch of instruments in a separate pod on top but I suppose it must be done. I don't want to get stuck somewhere in heavy rain without a working wiper, especially seeing as we're having another monsoon summer this year.
