The legislation is either changing or has changed for diesel engined vehicles. If they were fitted with a cat when manufactured they won't pass an MOT test if it's been removed.

Mine went through the MOT a couple of weeks ago without the CAT, but as things are changing and I have one sitting there I may as well do it.

Made new drivers footwell fit and welded it in, all ready for underseal now and then body can go on to chassis.
Taking forever but getting there:rolleyes::)

Fitted new drive flanges on the front replaced a swivel ball seal greased most props and had a good chat with turboman who helped me do most of the jobs above a real gentleman thanks Andy

I have 2 mates who are mot testers and they both tell me there are no such changes in the pipeline and a cat can be removed and makes no difference whatsoever to the mot hope this helps.:)

Hi. Iam totally new to this site done know where to post my problem. If anyone could help would be great.
I have 1997 range rover p38 2.5. I put a used box on it in January with 90,000 on it. Been running great and smooth. I had the oil changed a few days ago in the box as I had to replace the sump as it had split. And now it runs rubbish. Drive alomg and the car revs randomly and the gear changes are no longer smooth especially when changing down. I have dextron d2 oil in and levels are bang on. They is no loss in drive and if you put foot down it runs as it should but when going at a steady speed it revs up or revs down a gear temporarily. Can anyone help.
Thanks

Got up nice and early to change the Hub cap on my 90 in the hope it would stop the leak.
After a drive to work discovered it had not worked so now planning changing the hub bearings and seals

Fitted noise killer front kit to my 110 V8. Together with the bellhousing blanket it has been transformational, now a pleasure to hear rather than a pain.

Being a V8 and they don't make a kit for the V8 there was some modification required to the transmission tunnel area but not too hard.

Put the back end of the 90 back together after doing a bit of painting yesterday. It's good to be bolting parts on rather than taking them off :)

You should put this in the RR section really.

How did the sump get 'split'? Did it do any other damage? How far did you drive it after the 'split' and how long since the previous oil change?

If you bashed it badly enough you might have dislodged the filter, which then emptied 'stuff' which is now in the rest of the box.

both inner arches done now nothing more to do until mot time on saturday, probably find out theres loads more to do

Steam cleaned under my 90 and found that passenger footwell is better than expected, no more welding :D

Was short of time today so I just swapped the blowing de-cat down pipe for the Cat one,.
Towing the caravan down to Somerset on Monday so probably the safest thing to do, don't want it falling apart through bad welding half way there.

Been cleaning it for a car show tomorrow, started cleaning at 12 and I am up tomorrow to finish polishing it in the morning. Up at 5:45

I must be slightly mad.

Still hopefully people will enjoy something a bit different there at the car show.

It'll be the loudest diesel there I am sure :D

Collected 36 x 6' x 1' concrete fencing panels with my trailer then after that we went and bought 4 x 6' x 3' wooden fencing panels to complete one of our fences

Went to workshop yesterday to weld another patch on it. :rolleys: Discovered that the 3week old gas bottle was empty, cos the fecking valve had been left open & all the gas has leaked out of it.. So resorted to having to use Gasless wire :( Which ran out after doing less than a quarter of the Patch. Had to use me ancient fecked Ferm stick welder, along with rods that are at least 6years old and have been laying around in a damp workshop, for the last 3 years. Needless to say, it int a pretty sight
