Thanks. I'm starting to sub let part of an old service centre in the summer so it should be a lot easier. Over the last few days I have been limited by running out of light and it got quite cold and wet. Hopefully most of the jobs coming up are bolt on type jobs so it should be a bit easier.

We've started a bit of a craze at work..... One of the lads said he suggested getting a Landrover Defender 90 to his wife who is right up for it and given him an £8K budget. There are a couple I've found for £7000 which he should get for £6500 then £1500 on additional toys maybe......

cool, where abouts is the garage?.i live 30 mins from preston so might have a look see.

It's near Kirkham. It is an old car repair centre complete with high lift ramp etc My mate's brother is renting the whole building and I'm going to sub let a small section of it just as a hobby. There should be an area for spraying, a clean office for electrics/electronics/computer etc, a store area and space for about 8-10 cars plus the ramp area (and they are leaving the ramp in)

kudos to you on that little list
still no idea what motor it is, part thinks disco, but gut feeling is fender

similar to us with the garage, but on a larger scale by the sound of it.
ours is funded mainly by hobbyists, for the use of hobbyists, with a bit of extra to cover services.
I've now got soft, working indoors, with lighting, and a 4 poster.
its also a great feeling at the end of the night to just leave all the tackle where you left it, and lock the door to sort it all out the next day. :D

I can add wiring up the illumination for the 4 gauges and the feed for the volt meter. Will do the ammeter in situ tomorrow but the boost gauge didn't come with the pipe, T piece etc so can't connect that up yet.

I know exactly what you mean. I was previously into bikes and I had a bike lift in a heated garage in the back garden with my tools in drawer, a compressor and basically everything I needed there. It is impossible to get a car into the garage so I have to work outside unless I take it down to the current hobbyist's location which is a barn but it's partially open, dirty and full of crap so not ideal. Also if you leave something lying around it ends up getting weighed in!

your welcome :D

I mean, what is it your fitting all this stuff to?
if you've mentioned it earlier, then I missed it

Arrr sorry, it's a 1984 Defender 90 300TDi

externally there isn't much difference just at the moment, just a couple of LED side spots. There are a number of extra external additions going on over the next few days. Maybe I should have done a rebuild thread when I started....

used my van (oops disco) again to buy & collect enough wood in 2.4 metre lengths to build a neighbour some new gates for his driveway.
open the back door, fold the double seat back down,
load in the 2.4 metre lengths resting on front passenger seat,
the folded rear seat,
and my toolbox at the back -
simples...

love my dual, no,
all purpose landie....

Took mine for a spin to collect some coal and then topped the tank up with denzel while I wuz at it.

the short drive from tescos to its service station about 1/4 mile
by the time I got some diesel (15 litres) then been driving around to various bits and bobs my old disco is doing the =

just like some stroppy teenager - its 23 years old and should know better !!
so at home I gave it a slurp of mixed 2T chainsaw petrol to soften its heart bless it ;)

its fine around town before I gave it a slurp, but as soon as it gets into open fields - it shows off....

Other than moving my landy backwards and forwards a few feet to reserve the parking by me for my truck or the chav box, It has sat static since mid December. The wastegate had yet again decided to seize up so mine too was on a temperamental go slow.:D.
