Must have done it in the peaks .. I knew 'something' was wrong when I got onto the motorway following TC .. just different noises from the rear, but it was all driving straight, good brakes absolutely no issues at all so carried on. Then this morning took son to have braces fitted and on the way home something went BANG and it all went a bit pete tong .. brakes felt spongy, wanted to turn left, so I though feckit, that's another wheel bearing, so 'cos I was literally a few hundred yards away I crawled it home with no drama, then checked all round to find the spring out of it's socket! It can't, surely, have happened on a road? Not even driving 'enthusiastically', just bimbling along ...

Ah well, time to fit longer springs I guess ... until I can afford a decent, full setup I have a set of +2" (old) springs from Redhand that'll do.

Anyone got a decent set of +2" or longer shocks for a '97 300Tdi Disco going (extremely) cheaply??? ;)
you could do with some dislocation cones imo

well today ive been red oxide in the box section and mounts ready for fitment, old cills all cut out on passenger side.hoping tomorrow to get fitting

Yes you can Buy mine D4x4's rear cones £10 to you.. :D

OK, no worries Red, many thanks. Take them on the Bakewell run?

It's been a while since I lost a spring, and there really was no change in driving or feel right until close to home, but there's no way the driving we did today could have done it. Felt really weird when it let go, but I reckon the weird noise I kept hearing on the way home from the Peaks (which I'd thought was diff or transfer whine 'cos I didn't have rear seats in) was the spring just rubbing against the tyre, there's a few marks on that tyre inner wall that there isn't on the others, but nothing major thank goodness! Think the small mini-roundabout just before where it went did the final deed and popped it off the edge!

No sweat, up on axle stands now with wheels off and will change stuff tomorrow, got some brake lines to make and change too .. not strictly necessary but I want them done sooner than later and now seems a good time.

Got back from work and found ma decat pipe from Famous Four waiting for me. Result, thats friday's job.:D

Then i saw the "blue" label, balls. lets see how long it lasts!

Reprinted the bk tub and ripped out the old wiring someone did becuar let's face it a fag lighter really needs to be wired from the starter motor .....

No probs, will throw em in the 110 before I set off. Only takes 5 minutes to fit. If ya wanna do em Friday night. Just undo shocker bolt and stick a bottle jack between axle & chassis. Dislocate spring, drop the cone in and relocate the spring then fasten the retaining ring (2bolts) and jobs a good un.

Think they're made by Double 'S'. Fitted new rear shocks to the 110 y'day and a stainless straight through midsection and back section. I've noticed a genuine increase in acceleration and it sounds much nicer.

Tried to work out why my roof lights have stopped working to no avail, wish I knew something bout lectrics, tightened a few screws up n tidied the back out again as contemplating camping in it!

Sorting the breathing out on the v8, rear crank and rocker breathers just went to atmosphere through open pipes. Now got a filter on the the rear crank breather and rockers now breathe through inlet manifold.

Will be drilling rocker inlet's bigger soon and fitting another couple of the mini filters on them.
