Treated her to a set of extreme offset modulars, and ordered diff seals, hub seals, transfer box seals and a set front pads. I know what I'm doing this weekend ...

Finally got on with replacing the drums, shoes, wheel cylinders, springs and back-plates... this is after spending a week with my 'Landyman' local mechanic sorting out a new exhaust and manifold (petrol S3) - anyone else had problems getting the bolts out of the manifold? Also fitted some new rear body cross members / support struts (galvanised) and patched a few holes in the floor c/o the old (non-galv) ones! My overalls are rust-coloured now, but the Mad Cow (that's her name, technically) is almost ready for her MOT and looking a treat.
(I, on the other hand, look a bit beaten, bruised and oily!)

Re-filled the tools, ropes etc for green-laning when we go to North Yorks/Whitby this evening for the weekend .. :)

Replaced the tow-bar for the recovery shackle, swapped number plates to the caravan from the trailer, re-checked wheel nuts and brakes after a quick 10 mile blast, filled water, checked all fluids and stuff. Still got a small oil leak from an oil cooler pipe, but going to do that next week when I change the engine oil again. New oil filter is already covered in ****e, as is the diff .. looks like a massive leak but it's not, it just gets blown about I think.

Had a look at removing and tidying the 'stuff' under the rear, mudflap holders and other things .. all too rusty and I reckon when I start it'll lead to other stuff .. like I noticed the fuel filler pipe exterior is cracked! So we won't be re-visiting that just yet!

Sorted Memory map and a couple of routes I want to try .. looking forward to another weekend without the kids .. ;)

Just discovered a brand new 235/85/16 Insa Turbo tyre won't fit on the back door. Arse.

Does anyone other than the overpriced D44 gang make a higher mounting spare wheel carrier for a Disco 1??

my sahara fits on mine ok..

put some spare wheel nuts on the studs on the carrier, then put wheel on and more nuts to hold it on..
