i heard you can drain the oil out an fill it with one shot grease as a temp fix

Its a permanent fix, not temporary. later landies had one-shot as standard.

****! that side is pitted, an the seals look fooked, it sounds like new balls then
will have a read of busters thread again to see if i fancy the job

Aye it's pretty easy nick. The only bit ah found to be a pain in the erse was settin' the preload. Just make sure ye get the oil seals the right way round when fittin' thum (take a photo of yer old ones before ye take thum out)
