Changed the air, oil and fuel filter and whilst I was at it I changed the radiator due to big stones making holes in my old one. Just the turbo drain pipe and reversing light unit to replace.

Started painting the 90 satin black until we had an attack of the flying ants:mad:Dam things, spent all afternoon trying to keep em off the wet paint

Found that the oil cooler pipes on the 200tdi engine wont screw into a 300 tdi radiator:rolleyes:

I know the hoses are different as well but I can get round that.

Any way the 78k 200 I bought for 150 quid STARTED FIRST TIME and ticked over for a few seconds before I switched off ..RESULT:D:D:D

Might be on the road next week , only front calipers and some wiring and cosmetics to get done.:)

Removed the under passenger seat tool box in my Series III, so I can fit a YRM double battery size one. The old one didn't want to come out, copious use of drill and angle grinder required.
Twin batteries and split charge here I come.:)

well tried to get c pillar external plastic covers of today i know there on three clips but i cant get the buggers off,i thought they just pulled off, stuffed if i know give it up as bad job ive split one of them, better get pricing new ones up before i smash em to bits, unless theres another way lol:doh:

Poly Bushed the Panhard rod

OOOh it really made a difference.
Its amazing how you don't really notice the issues creeping up.
Its like a new machine now.

I took the front wheels off- did some scrapey things with the brakes, sprayed some wd40 on some bits underneath and changed a brake light bulb........

well when I said " I " actually ..................................

Cheers cake boy :)

Well.. kai has been working on his series today. Doing a few bits on the axle-

To start with he decided that he should strip the hubs out:

P1010004.jpg

He was careful about removing bearings and component parts... not because he intends reusing them but he figures any apparent damage may indicate deeper problems. Don't know whether he is right but I can't fault his reasoning!
P1010006.jpg

Proper hub nut spanner and the hub nut looks fine by all accounts... he will still use a new one later though!
P1010009.jpg

The hub is pretty well rusted and is reluctant to come off easily

P1010013.jpg

Bearings looked ok... not too much play...

P1010015.jpg

hub off... and the inside is just as rusted as the outside... spiders webs and all sorts!

Then it is off to the little welding hut in the garden for the building of some tool he has in mind...

P1010088.jpg

P1010089.jpg

weld it all together...

P1010094.jpg

(the result of the practise weld he did before going on to the real thing... not perfect but not bad for a 12 year old!

Clean it up

And after all that it turned out he was making some brackets to hold a fence together for his mum! that bit weren't landy at all!

Skyving git. Still at least he weren't playing x-box like half his mates will have been!
