Put new fan belt on last night - second attempt after going back to the shop and this time getting one the right length (their mistake, not mine)

Started engine, horrendous noise, when I checked it had thrown the belt off. Refitted and treble checked it was on OK (it was dark by now) - started engine and it threw it off again.

Checked again and spotted that the pulleys aren't all in line. The power steering pump pulley is about 1/2" further forward than the others........

Next job is to find out what's going on there!!

There speaks a wise-ish man! Hows the series on the road yet? I must say you get a bit of flack about it being ever so reliable and everyone tells me series mota's are reliable!

Do you want some Series Landy porn Series71???

Have you had the pulley off recently and put it back the wrong way round?

Nope.

I knew the belt was getting near its end of life, then last Saturday I lost all power steering as I came off the motorway. The belt was badly scuffed and clearly needed changing, so I was hoping that it had just been slipping and that a new belt would fix everything.

It didn't look out of line (or at least not that far) when I checked the engine after PAS went - I was cheking to make sure pulley still turning. It also seemed fine when I took the old belt off, though the belt was to one side of the pulley not right in the middle.

It went dark, and I haven't had time to have propper look tonight (voting and shopping) but it didn't seem loose or anything.

Weird!!

Finally fitted the set of 265/75x16's to my Defender that I bought off fleabay - original Boosts & BFG's are now packed away but may sell if good price offered?

I've changed the oil and greased it's nipples, touched up the underseal ready for the French Control Technique next week. Hoping the emissions control themselves this time round. Then it is off back to the UK at the end of May for my son to use in Lincs. on Landscaping and maybe off roading knowing his driving lol:D
