Ive been welding too.

Took a big chance this morning with the weather forcast and took off the roof. Finished unbolting the tub and lifted it on blocks.

Cut the old rear crossmember off and welded a new one on. Tub and roof back on now and the heavens didnt open.

By eck those roofs are evy. First time Id man handled one. Wasnt expecting to break a sweat.

Drove it today at speed and it feels really stable on the new 265/75/16s on wider wheels, compared to the old 7.5s.

At 70mpg it was totally smooth - I am now wondering what was wrong with the old BFGs/wheels, as there had been a wobble at 70 or more; probably wheel balancing was out. Also the wider stance is giving great cornering. The truck has been transformed - which was quite unexpected. Money well spent.

Did a bit more fiddling to attempt to address my persistent handbrake warning light flicker. I thought I'd got rid of this but it came back at the weekend. I've made a modification to the float switch chamber in the brake fluid reservoir which might have solved it, and posted it in an appropriate thread in the Defender section in case it's any use to anyone.

Just been out adjusting the handbrake. Mysteriously it seems to have de-adjusted itself following yesterday's offroading- where before 3 clicks was fully on, it had moved to 5 or 6

The Land Rover and I are celebrating our third anniversary. It was June the 1st 2012 that I first went to see it and plighted my troth, and put down a deposit. I haven't got it a card or a gift though.

Bought her a new grease gun with a flexible hose on it, and a couple of tins of Moly Grease.

Now it's time to get down and dirty again and give the UJ's a good seeing to :D:D

went to go on my honeymoon, got 4 miles from home and my timing belt snapped. got recovered by AA and ordered a belt kit and pushrods of ebay. got it all fitted this weekend but now I have gone from 14psi boost to 10psi max most of the time the max is 8-9psi
any ideas why this would be? my boost guage is tee'd off the fuel pump

Found my lack of boost problem. I hadn't fully tightened the intake manifold jubilee. Now back to full boost. Drives a lot easier now
