whats the best way of checking it? just unscrewing the plastic :rolleyes: screw or removing the bowl. my screw was very tight to the point I thought it was going to snap off
 
Plastic screws are known for shearing off. Remove with top bolt, then if you want you can try freeing the plastic one. Refit plastic with plenty of copaslip/silicone lube. Check plastic screw regularly to stop it seizing.
 
ok cheers for the help its the first time I have attacked it and I've had it a year now but the plastic screw did eventually come out complete and them with the diesel that came out it went in fine
 
Just looked at the poor sole sitting helplessly on the drive, and thought, one day you will be back together and working again....
 
Had a go at doing the sills with box section, took pics chopping out the old but forgot to take any of the new box section fitted, will grab some tomorrow when i finished them off




 
Gone outside to look at it and noticed some fecker has nicked the wheels off it. :mad: Bastid has fitted a set of rusty 8spokes with bald, split tyres in their place, :eek:

Made a few enquiries and someone saw a dodgy looking sod with a "wurzil gummidge" hair do, in a white transit van with a Dawg on the front Passenger seat. Lurking around it earlier this afternoon :rolleyes:

Last seen heading for the A38 Muttering about strangling cyclists :)
 
Cleaned out the ECU of Oil!! Fitted new Injector Harness & New Fuel Filter - Still wont start - New Battery 2Moz.

Thinking about an Odesey Battery?:confused:
 
Myself and Turboman sorted the fuel system on my Land Rover, I had a form of fungus growing in the system so I drained the system and fuel filter and whilst all the system was apart I painted my tank replaced all the old rusty fastenings with stainless steel bolts. Also replaced the filler neck with a stainless one. Well worth it knowing that the whole system is clean.

Even Turboman was amazed with the TDI self blessing technology
 
Got the front brake lines in and mounted. Ony the rear brake line to go! Might meet my target of bleeding the brakes on the weekend! Once brakes are done back to engine tinkering.

Then once the boot floor supports are in then just need to fit the rubber mounts on the fuel tank, rejig the fuel lines and fit new fuel filter, then boot floor goes down and interior can be fitted!!! :D
 
Set out to adjust the wheel bearings only to find one of my rear discs was covered in gear oil so just adjusted the front wheel bearings as i need to get some better hub seals for the rear which i will do next weekend.

then we moved onto replacing the steering rods with H/D ones we bought in the week inc new ball joints and a new drop arm / ball joint but struggled with removing the drop arm as it was solid even my 3 legged puller set wouldn't touch it ( kept slipping off ) so had to resort to not changing the drop arm but will try and do it next weekend after replacing the rear hub seals.

then decided to fit the new fuel solenoid which was a right pain to get to then after replacing it found the new one leaking badly but think i hadn't tightend it up properly by this time it was too cold so will have another look at it tomorrow before i go to work.

so a ####in sh1t day really :mad:
 
looked out my french windows to see if my old discos still there....
it was, after 2 attempts at theft so far....

must start using it soon before it ignores me.....lol
 
Fitted a turbo that I got from eBay for £77. Nice to do a easy job for a change.
Got a oil pressure gauge off eBay and only getting 14psi when the engine is hot and in drive but not moving then 20psi when in neutral. I've rebuilt the engine about 200mile ago so going to replace the oil pump and hope for the best.
