Hello All! Just new to this today and only had a Mark 1 Disco for a few months!

Today started getting rumbling noise throughout car when driving and then noticed what I think is transmission fluid (or something like it) on the outside of rear NS wheel looking like it was running from centre of wheel.

Anyone any idea's?

Not 100% about car history but I do believe it has had tansmission issues previously/currently!

Any advice would be very much appreciated!

Dave
the rumbling could be the ujs on the propshaft or wheels bearings etc

I'd go with wheel bearing is shot LAND ROVER DEFENDER, DISCOVERY 1, RANGE ROVER WHEEL BEARING KIT - STC4382 | eBay something like this will sort that out and due to the bearing being shot it is causing the noise and has worn the seal holding your diff oil in the axle casing. simple job if your handy on the spanners just make sure everything is clean as it goes back together

done a vary rare landy thing today,
I topped up the engine oil...
put 1 litre in but was a little over full at cold standing..
dont seem to use engine oil bless it.
did take it for a run round the shops, leaving it ticking over while grandaughter inside the shops, with my rad now half covered with last years double walled plastic sheet I cut for it, it helps in warming that old engine up....
stops the cold air blasting the drivers side also...

New head fitted on the 300tdi disco no more smoke but .... Still no heat and temperature gauge doesn't move

Too right, I can't really complain, been using one of the garages courtesy cars, but a Micra just doesn't seem to enjoy going through the River Wyre like the 90 does... :D

rough fitted the grill beacons. why do they never supply enough cable. barely reaches from drivers footwell to the grill. looks like I'll be extending the cables tomorrow

300tdi fuel gauge now works cleaned turbo pipes checked turbo .

No smoke on idle but smokes when driving . Any ideas ?

has the pump been tweeked to far so it's over fueling somehow?

filled mine up and straightened out the rear corner after meeting the container loading ramp at work  really need to get some work lights as reverse lights so I can see where I'm reversing properly

Update found a loose head bolt no more smoke but heater doesn't HEAT .

Strange as I followed Haynes bible

Think mine is dying :( got white/blue smoke on start up until it's warm. Oil leaking all over the top of the cam belt housing, bubbling up between the housing and the block. Noticed my oil light flickering slightly on idle earlier as well. Got a new (second hand) head for it but everything seems to be going wrong.
