It's just gone 8am on a Saturday and the man from Event Tyres has been, fitted my replacement tyre and gone already. Great service.

The tyre was split at the Peterborough LRO Show course last weekend.

That's what I used in mine last time. A little more smoke on startup though compared to the previous 15W40. Once you've driven off it's fine.

Dug out some ammo boxes and had a tidy up, still more gear to get together for winter coverage but it's a start
(A-frame is hidding under the lids) :D

Put in my new LED strip light in the rear of the defender , that I brought at the Peterborough show.

It's really bright and easy to fit, with the added bonus that it's holding up my sagging headlining.

Unfortunately I've now noticed that the standard interior light is a bit off centre, and it's irritating me now, so I will sort that this week.

had the injectors out of my D1 today left them in some coke to dissolve some of the crud then used 2000 grit wet and dry to remove the last of the carbon. put it all back together and started fine then noticed no.2 injector was leaking round the sealing washer so out it came again to clean the washer and end of the injector again put it back and now it's fine. real test will be first start in the morning. is it normal for the injector to soot up so soon after cleaning? I only ran it for a minute before removing it again

Fitted new exhaus & intake gasket after the old one split. Found a stud missing from one of the holes, tried to fit another but the thread was stripped. Another one won't tighten uo fully so that must have damaged thread too. Bum. Still holds in place we.

Sat'day (know its late!)

Changed the thermostat and the waterpump on Drover. One of the long bolts on the waterpump housing was well scummed up and seized - managed to get 'im out without too much damage.

Discovered that the plastic cowling around the radiator/viscous fan is too large for the job it does, so in an attempt to remove it for ease of waterpump job, it were cut down te size!! Still protects tha fingys from big spinny fan of pain, but is now easily removable fer jobs.

Realised after that what were a suspect thermostat/pump failure was prolly a blinkin airlock, but at end of day, its another job down on the preventative list!

New to this site, but just wondered if anyone could help. I paid £120 plus parts to have a damper pulley replaced on a td5. On completion I noticed the pulley wobbling on the crank throwing the belt around. Took it back wax told the britpart pulley was faulty. I bought another on and took it to another garage who was cheaper he's just phoned to say there's nothing wrong with the pulley. It seems the first garage knocked the spring off the oil seal when pushing the nose of the pulley and trapped it inside the pulley as the bolt was tightened up it crushed the spring throwing the pulley off true. I'm now wondering what the hell to do. I won't know yill tomorrow if the crank or pulley has been damaged or if the original pulley will fit properly. Anyone every heard of this happening before, could the crank end be damaged??
