Got new Dayco idlers pulleys from our friend in California, changed the one that sits in place of the aircon pump, kept the other as a spare.

Original idler and bracket assembly was £160 + VAT but no longer available. So if you have a D2 with ACE but no aircon, you need a Dayco 89008 pulley, available in the US of A.

Gota do a few other jobs later in the week so will try do similar but so can see what's going on lol. Transfer box to do but will be a very short video!! And gota do a clutch for another mate might be worth but again be difficult to find a place to rest the phone on lol

how do you convert it to time lapse?
 
App on iphone called Imotion, just set the time intervals and can set a few other options and away you go. Just finished it up in IMovie.

Leave it plugged into a charger as it wl drain the battery down quick I found lol!
Been using it on a few tree jobs It works great as can see the before and after in step by step ;)

haha, I don't even have an iphone, let alone know how to use one :D

Welded a door bottom up today, good job although I say it myself:)

Also welded my Saxo exhaust up so not a bad day:)
 
I've had a Landie week!

Sunday I collected it from Southwest Customs in Swindon who had fitted my new Pressbrake rear x member, and fully under sealed the chassis, and did a superb job.

Wednesday I hard wired my CB, wired up my spot lights, and fitted my new Angel eye headlights

Thursday I gave the old bus a damn good clean, the paint came up surprisingly ok, considering!

Then today I drilled my new Pressbrake rear x member and re-fitted my bumperettes.

And how it currently looks :D

washed the sahara off my disco today and yesterday I fitted some spacers to the bottom hinge of the drivers door to mask the drop in the hinge pins and fitted a check strap while I was there, must admit it's made a huge difference to using the door today didn't once have to lift the door as I opened or closed it made things so much easier. now just need to remember that it still needs new hinges and get them properly sorted
 
fitted my rear door handle after robbing the bits i needed of a mgb handle, oh the joys of a really early 110
 
Put the nackered Defender axles on the Disco, all a bit fraught and nothing done up tight but done well enough just so I can put wheels on, move the Disco and get the caravan and trailer out .. and provide somewhere for the Defender to park!

What a bloody job!

Trailing arms, bolt threads were nackered, someone (me!) 'it 'em wiv' a' 'ammer ... so they needed re-working. Similarly the radius arm bolts threads were a bit sus. _Everything_ had got rusty, not that I'm surprised, but I used more 3in1 than I ever have!! A-frame bolts surprisingly went straight in quite easily, but the axle pivot wouldn't tighten up fully, but no worries, it ain't gonna be used in anger!

However, both axle internals all actually feel very, very good! Wheel bearings, CV's, diffs all felt silky smooth, less play than what's on the Defender now, though the brakes had seized on, but that was an easy fix. 'course, there's no brakes at all on it now, even the handbrake won't work 'cos there's no props on it either .. watch my posts for a sale soon .. ;)

Thinking aloud here, on about welding the diffs up and using one halfshaft cap for on road and 'full' shaft for extreme lanes or mud, so I have a locked rear diff. Maybe, if it works, I'll do the same for the front, and change diffs back to 10 spline. Not sure it's possible 'cos I have a feeling the stub axles are different between '89 2.5TD 90 and '97 300Tdi Disco, we can but try!

Got rid of the polytunnel, it really wasn't worth saving after the running repairs and breakages during the 80+mph winds we had over christmas/new year ish, but won't hesitate to buy another if it's ever needed!

All in all quite a productive day. Hopefully it's gonna make up for tomorrow, going to Nottingham to see the in-laws. Love 'em to bits but stuff's happening just now that isn't right good and we need to be there when we can.
