So, we now have a fully working, properly wired, isolated, fused, remote controlled winch .. ;)

We have a fully wired in, all working separately fused and relayed pairs of spotlights on a (slightly modified) Discovery light bar .. :)

Previous to his arrival I'd already sussed the switchgear to make the headlights work with the rear lights at the same time, and the headlight flasher to work properly! (Some connectors weren't .. ) Bit of a novelty to have stuff working as it should!

So pleased .. pics tomorrow, it's dark and one of my 'security steps' is to park with the front into the wiremesh fence and hawthorn so the winch and 'stuff' can't be nicked from the front, or the bonnet easily got at!
 
Took it to Tixover quarry with the club... good day out! got a bit of transmission whine on the way back... not sure where its coming from!?

Also I found the cuase of the cutting out when driving, for some reason the power to the pump is cutting out every now and again. Put a 12 directly to it and didn't flinch once! Now to figure out why and whats causing it.

How did you fix your flasher?! Spent ages looking at the switch and all contacts seem good, it's getting good feed to it.

Destroyed one of the green filters in the temp gauge so now the light is pink! :D played with the headlamp wiring so now dip stays on with main, would like to say it made a difference but I'd be lying as the near side headlight is like a candle, will take a look at the earth tomorrow morning :mad:

Basically disconnected everything, blew it out and brushed stuff away, re-connected and it all worked. One connector, dunno what it was for, wasn't connected, so just connected it to the same coloured 'other' wire .. all lights now work!

Mind, the main switch clamp was very loose, the actuall bullet connectors were also loose, so just fettled stuff, tightened clamp, pliers squeezed the bullet females a little. Wasn't just one thing, just lots of little bits I think. I also went round, disconnected all the lights and re-connected them all, surprising how many had really cruddy connections. I guess this was the main factor ..
 
I'll have to take another look at some point then. It used to work then packed up before I MOT'd it last year along with the horn button. I did wonder if I could wire a flasher into a spring switch thingy like I did my horn.

have finally got back from the a+e to find that it has taken them 4 hours to say my thumb/hand is not broken but just sprained/bruised and then half hour to put a velcro support on it just to say to take it off to sleep well at this time of night it'll be off in less than half hour :5bbanghead:

Better than taking 4 hours to say it is broken :eek:
 
true but i had an x-ray then they were saying that they didn't think that it was broken and I was just left thinking surely the x-ray would show you if it is or not
 
Off to a good start, come out and buckled up, turned the key "click". Bugger.
Been thinking for a while the battery was knackered after all of the long charges when the alternator stopped working. Turns out I just left me work light on:rolleyes::doh:
 
Coated everything in plus gas on the front axle nd suspension hoping it will come off without use of Mr big & his assorted crew..
 
Changed the plastic plug to brass on the thermostat housing.
Part fitted Chinese LED work light - not wired it in yet
Fitted fire stingusher to rear door

Little jobs that have been on the cards for ages
 
Got rid of the leaky rectangle reverse and fog light renewed the wiring and installed the round lights, with adding some aluminium plate, this offers some rigidity for my drop down ladder to sit on.
 
Do you need the plate to cover the old holes aswell or do you drill em out to fit new ones? Was looking at doing it to mine..
 
Fitted up and adjusted my td5 rear door, ready for painting next month. Just need some new electrical connecters to wire her all up.........then relised my radiator has started to weap...balls:mad:
