yer seen the colour o pikeys fookin 90, nawt will clash with that bastid? infact yer red oxide dash might not go a miss

Still not ready but just the ECU to connect up and the engine bay wiring. It's a red 'H'reg 1.9 gti with full leather interior and faded paint. It's my next job after the land rover.:)

After the Chimaera and the Disco are both finished, I AM buying another 205 / 309GTI, no matter what.

I've had many cars over the years, but nothing this side of a Caterham even comes close to a well sorted fast pug. :D

Caterham yes, this 1600 K series is faster than a Ferrarri round short circuits even with me at the wheel:eek:

I'm now off to the workshop to do me brakes on the 110 then I'm nearer to mot and getting on with me toys:)

What have i done to my Landie today?????

Well, not as much as i would have liked TBH.

Picked up the last of the parts that I needed from Gordon Lambs.
Gave one side of the new fuel tank vent cover a lick of hammorite
fabricated and offered up my protective cover for the rear wiring loom
started changing the little plastic clips that hold the sockets for the ball and sockets on the headlamps. On the third one, the head snapped off the screw. Couldn't be arsed to drill it out.

MUST. DO. MORE. TOMORROW.

Bought off ebay a pair of these ..

... One of these ...

and when I connected them together ... they didn't work!

So I bought some of this ...

n61an.jpg

.. used it on the connectors and motor sockets ...

AND THEY WORKED !!!;):);)

So I took these ...

out, put the motors in and I now have adjustable headlamps in the Disco.

Which is nice !! :):cool::)

I do like the idea of Landrover that all the wiring and stuff is in the things, you just need to add the bits!

Don't mind at all ...

Discovery 1 2 300 td5 Headlamp Leveller on eBay, also, Land Rover, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 30-Jan-09 14:59:25 GMT)

£7.50 each + £6 postage (discount for buying 2) £21 total for the pair, Good Result I think.

Mind, I've been waiting ages for a pair to come up at a reasonable price, they normally go for ~£25 - £30 .. these were on £7.50 BIN ... so I dived in ... ;)

Switch cost £6 inc postage .. and I'd been quoted £27 from local independants ... so for the cost of a new switch I've got the full set, which is nice!

We'd originally been quoted £145 for the 'proper' Landrover kit ... ;)

My Disco has the switch missing but no blanking plate, you can see the white connector behind the dash. But no spare wires up to the lamps that I can see. Will there be a plug taped up somewhere and a place in the lamps to fit those motors?

Yup. Take the headlight out, just pulls off, and trace the main wires back through the hole behind .. there's a small black three pin plug taped onto the loom, but on mine was hidden behind the metal and underneath the loom, so very awkward to see.

The motors simply replace the manual adjusters ... and the switch connects to the dash wiring then pokes through the hole and held on with a nut.

It's easier to actually do than tell you how to do it !!!

There's a Landrover sheet that tells you the approved way of doing it ... I'll try and pm it if you want?

Sorry can't pm or email 'cos LZ doesn't allow attachments .. sorry.

1. Fitted a new thermostat - There wasn't one in the housing hence my warmup/heater issues!

2. Removed, copaslipped, and replaced all wheel nuts. Thought I better after having to use a 6 foot breaker bar (and snapping a socket  ) to get them off before when I changed my wheels!

3. Discovered that I already have extended axle breathers on both front and rear :D

My list of things I want to do is still getting longer though! Anyway, I'm having loads of fun learning so much along the way :)

Landrover Headlamp levelling kit instructions.

PDF file, saved on my hotmail skydrive account. Never used it before so hope I've got it right. If you can't get access or have trouble with it please let me know.

Hope it works ... ;)
