We had 8 inches of snow over night and more expected this evening. Drove down a mountain road, lost count of how many abandoned cars and white vans and cars in the ditch. One of those days when I was proud to be in my Defender. Got to my destination, some guy I was buying some snow tyres and wheels for the wife's car. When I got there the snow plough had been along and left a wall of snow blocking the entrance to the guys garage. Managed to drive straight through it. The guy looked and said snow or no snow, it doesn't make much difference in the Defender.

Silver is due for full service + MOT tomorrow but decided today she didn't want to start. Suspecting a new battery (hope its that simple) may be on the list, got her jump-started by calling hubby from work and turned up at the garage a day early. Good timing or what?!

Will be going to your area soon will be going snowboarding at St Gervais next january are you close.

Finished the side exit on my 90. Still straight pipe, but how have a bit more than a few inches of down pipe. Also fitted the disco springs on the rear, quite impressed by the amount of lift and feels a bit stiffer. On the way home we stopped to cut a length of bar away that was sticking out the hedge and was close to a local lane so thought I'd go through it, a puddle usually 8-10 inches at the most left water marks halfway up the headlights , certainly wasn't expecting that. Still hunting for new tyres though.

What do you think of the rear Disco springs apart from lift and stiff?

Are they a hard ride unladen, asking cause I was thinking of doing the same:)

Hard to say after so little driving with them. It's definitely a bit less of a handful in the corners but certainly not too hard as I've heard with HD springs.

Off to Morzine myself in January. Had to get a new coat as I seem to have shrunk my old one

It's good there I've stayed in les gets right next to morzine had some really good off piste. The only reason I go to St Gervais is a friend I have let's me use his apartment there for free whenever I want so it's just flights and car hire

My family have been going for the past 10 years or so staying in a friends apartment but they've sold up so we are renting one this year. I doubt I'll get much skiing in this year as the girlfriend is coming so will be distracted by cold white stuff

All I know is that it's St Gervais mont blanc 20 mins from chamonix

You will be about a three and a half hour drive from us. We are about an hours drive from Lyon but in the other direction. To get to the Alps it takes us about three to four hours depending on which resorts you are looking at. We have done most of them. We have two small ski stations within about a 45 minute drive from us which is great for a day trip.
