hmm.. i might look into getting some springs, had my dizzy apart recently.. previously had a jumpy acceleration.

Its not the springs that wear usually, its the posts that they are attached to, there are many many different springs depending on the engine, some are stronger to hold back the mechanical advance for longer, depends on the cam etc. Just make it as the manufacturer intended and in good condition, working etc then play with the advance, you need as much advance as poss without pinking, forget static settings because they don't allow for wear in the drive for dizzy / dizzy, timing chain etc , your static setting could be 5 degrees out when the engine is running.

With no vac advance connected and at idle just turn the dizzy till the engine speed rises and you're not far off, if it slows then go back, either way it don't matter, if too advanced it will slow and if too retarded it will slow so cant go wrong really.
Don't be afraid of ign timing, plenty on the internet about it and its easy once you have grasped the basics:)

Thanks for the info! I understand how it work's... a bit like how the Big Bang crew do.. but how to actually work it is another matter... :D

When I cleaned and regressed it all, it was all in good condition with 0 play.

I think I need to do some research tonight!

Rear wheel back on after hub seal rebuild, topped the axles after new front seal fitted, and made new fitting for rear breather banjo as didnt want to spend £15 for the whole pipe.....now onto the next oil leak coming from around the vacuum pump...it will an oil tight landy!!!

washed it and polished it :)

Got a strange whistle from my turbo, sounds like super charger whining now rather then a turbo. Thought it was a leaky hose but they are all tight and double the jubilee clips up, cant spot any obvious holes..... hope its not anything sinister like dying turbo :(

Had a road rage incident and chased a chav, After he cut me up on a roundabout and then threw a can of drink at me. I think I frightened the ****e out of him :D. lost the fooker though  I needs a V8

Got this in the post, big up for Amazon USA, way cheaper including delivery than UK prices before vat + delivery!!

So fitted it all, ran it up and it all works .. ;)

Spooled rope on and a hook, all second hand and cheap, but they'll do till the lottery comes up.

Although I say it myself, I really like the winch installation, no loss of approach angle, very discreet and would be a right beeatch to nick! I can run it from inside the cab, extra buttons wired direct, or using a remote radio NOT a cheap Chinese thing, a decent security installation via Topcat - top bloke!! OK, not so easy to get to the rope if it bunches, but I'll cross that when it happens .. ;)

I'm now after a decent wander lead too, dunno about the range of the radio gear and I've seen a couple of times when they 'go off' a little ... but again, might make something up or just see what turns up .. ;)

Forgot to say, winch wired direct to the battery for now, I need a cut-off switch. I had used a solenoid, but the ones I had were really unreliable, I suspect couldn't take the current, I went through three before I ripped the solenoid out and dumped the associated extra wiring and connections to make it much simpler. There is a cut-off switch in the cab via a relay to the main solenoid pack, but this probably isn't reliable or good enough to stop a real 'runaway'.

Who cares, it works :)

Paul I have the old wanderlead off the 8274.. if yu want it. I've sold the winch so no use to me any more.

Took it for a nice long drive this evening to see if the new condenser fixed the ignition. Just under 100 miles done and it didn't miss a beat.

Also fitted my headlining (courtesy of zippydog cheers) looks like a totally new Landy inside and seems a touch warmer.

Be good that mate .. usual thing, keep hold of it till we meet or in passing .. :) Cheers.

Gave mine a grease up and checked all the fluid levels. Transfer box oil very low. I have seen some additives you add with the gear box oil which are supposed to stop leaks. Has any one tried any of these and what's the verdict on them?

used my 200tdi to jump start my wife's 300tdi because she left the lights on all night (again) and flattened the battery (again)
