I'm driving between Skegness and Spalding quite a bit and just worked out I'm getting 25mpg. I'm happy considering its a series IIa 88 with a 3.5 v8 :)

Hoovered out the Disco's interior and wiped down the plastics, then fitted the new floor mats courtesy of ebay  Discovered (pun intended!) that the injector harness connector was dry, so the oil in the ecu red plug was a legacy from a previous harness. :)

Diff.

Got freewheeling hubs, kenlowe fan and tall tyres.
It's a rangey v8 afaik with a single down draft Webber carb, I recently fitted a new cloyes duplex timing chain that has standard or 2 degrees advanced/retarded options for cam and I advanced the cam timing for better torque.
Blanked off the vacuum advanced pipe for the dizzy as the system is ****e (even the original SU setup is in accurate) and set the static timing to 13/14 degrees btdc.
Engine runs sweet as a nut and revs very free, only need to use an inch of throttle to pick up speed and cruise at 55. But need a lot more to get past 60.
Need to get some silver rated dizzy springs tho to be spot on (from real steel)
And a hurricane cam which should liven things up a bit :D

how does it work under full throttle for acceleration with no vacuum advance?
Also what are the springs you speak of?

You may need more advance, keep advancing it until it pinks under load at low revs then back it off a bit till it doesn't, that will probably cure the lack of power at higher revs:)

used the 110 to haul a mates "lightweight" on the trailer to a trial we both joined this new club , shared the landy and he went first in the first stage then I went next got to the end then the clutch seized
tbh glad it did the 2 following sections a total of 5 trucks rolled (1 of them did it on consecutive stages  end over end then barrel rolled twice!!)

Vac advance only affects part throttle so wont be any different on full bore

Tis true that, the spring kit should help bring more advanced as well as the revs rise so I won't have to go to far with the static.

Go as far as you can with the static as long as it don't pink, sounds not too far off if you can drive on a light throttle, you need to check that the springs in the dizzy are not loose with wear, you can bend the posts that they are fixed to and tighten them if the posts are worn. One is a little loose as standard though.
(Springs under base plate in dizzy attached to weights)
You could be running weak, might need a tad more fuel, give it a try, one full turn on screw and see if its better, if so back it off half and try again till it falls off, in to richen out to weaken:)
