Made a little change. Can you spot the difference?

No I'm not talking about the garage door being open and closed!
New boots!!

I picked the best 4 wheels from the 10 I had and took them to have new tyres fitted, a fifth was in good condition and had a decent tyre so it is now the spare, the rest went to the scrap metal man for Filthy Lucre. 😋

Turned out the four wheels needed a refurb so I spent a week rubbing, sanding and spraying them.
I was never 100% happy with the Nissan wheels as the spindle size was too big plus the tyres where much lower sidewall giving a firm ride. One of the things I like about Freelanders is the cushioned ride from the big side walls in the tyres.
A final bonus is the speedo is now restored to reading correctly.

Is that a typo? Was it the SRS light or ABS?

Is it one or both of the 1st/reverse sensor wires on the gearbox loose?
Opps you are correct ABS lamp not SRS. It could be that as I was working around those so I'll have a look. How do you know about that? I'd never have thought about that.

Replaced my both lower rear lights and the driver side upper light. Had small cracks on the originals and the lower lights had moisture accumulation in them. Also changed to studded winter tyres, the Wildpeaks were great even in slush & snow but they are not really designed to arctic temperatures we have here in Finland. We have had abnormally warm autumn, the snow we had couple of weeks ago has melted completely but next week it will be snowing again.

They are just things in the ABS system related to the gearbox.

However, TBH, I don't think they would throw just the ABS, more likely give 2 Amigos without the ABS!

To then throw the full monty 3 Amigos, suggests 2 problems... probably from the ABS sensor that was cleaned up

I recon you should have the codes read.

Removed headlight to replace bulb and found no one locally bloody has one so need to order on amazon. Checked I've not got a nail in rear tyre that's only done 1000 miles... Slow puncture

New bearings fitted to rear hubs, and rear hub and arm assemblies and driveshafts refitted.

My tyre fitter said I needed to clean up the rims and paint them before he would fit new tyres. Said I'd probably end up with slow punctures if I didn't because of corrosion.
He was probably right.

We've been to the car wash. That's not the primary purpose of the visit though. Now I can see that water is coming into the boot from high on the door card.

It does look nice all cleaned up, but time to get shopping for a new high level brake light, I think

Well done for tracing it and finding the culprit

A couple more attempts with the USB port tonight. NTFS would not let the USB itself be recognised at all, so I think that's out.

Had a 'here we go again' moment when engine turned over but wouldn't start. Searched a couple of threads here, decided to try unclipping the high pressure fuel rail harness to clean it with contact cleaner, put it back and now it starts with no effort. That other thread mention the tendency of that connection point to collect condensation, and it was wet when i looked. Poster recommended putting a bit of silicone seal on it, which I will do. So pretty much a win, although I expect the hammer to fall properly at some stage.

It might be the USB stick itself that is the problem but I thought they were normally formatted to FAT or FAT32

He was probably right.
It was a screw buried deep in the tread. £24 fixed. Saves buying a new tyre that was hardly used.

Glad to hear that. If you had gone to kwikfit the screw would probably been in the side wall and the tyre would have been trashed. At least that was my experience of them.

I know this is not the place to sell things but could do with a little help on this one
It’s a friends and unfortunately he can’t drive anymore so this need gone
It’s been pampered since he as had it still as prop and 4 good tyres
MOT 17/10/20125
Need a drop link and back brakes clean/ adjustment but is totally fine to drive as is
Clean interior
My question is how much is it worth??
Its definitely one of the better ones left

Sadly as it was registered after 23 March 2006 that means a tax disc of over £700 per year (further increase in 2025) and so reduces price greatly. I got £500 for a good 56 plate.

Mines a September 2006 and its £400 odd by direct debit so definitely not £700 as it would be mothballed till its 40 🤨
