The bigger question is what will @Nodge68 do with all the free time now he has no LR to maintain. Maybe we should club together and get him a wee project.
Can't have him getting lazy on us. 🤣
Mrs Nodge has given me a list of jobs to complete around the house, so I'll not get lazy. I also want to get my Avenger on the road over the next couple of years, so that'll keep me busy.

Actually thinking about it, other than the HG issue, rear diff going bang, and umpteen Haldex fluid changes, the FL2 has been boringly reliable. It didn't suffer from any real electrical issues, except the crank sensor and MAF sensor plugs, and 3 parking sensors. I don't consider maintenance tasks as issues, as that's just part of owning an ICE vehicle.
In all the FL2 has been a better vehicle to own than my FL1, so I'm sad it's gone, but we need to move on don't we.

Got the first parts delivered, so I can continue with the care of the F2 invested by @Nodge68.
New hub nuts are on the way, and genuine drop links have been ordered also (because why not).
Whilst it’s all off, I’ll take the opportunity to treat the underside with a wax spray also.

Off for a little light-reading of a manual or 2 😁

Shiny, nice.
You might not need to undo the driveshaft nuts, as the strut can be eased outwards slightly, which will be enough to get the shafts out the way. I didn't remove the shafts when I replaced the diff, I just moved them out the way. ;)

Replaced all four tyres today. Despite still having 5mm tread, the Michelin cross climates were cracking and i hate changing wheels. Just for clarification-im jinxed and regularly suffer punctures, blow-outs etc in work van and personal car. I think my dad did something when i was born and gave me bad luck.

I know someone on here slated them but i went for General tire AT3's.

John, this is reminding me of Monty Python, apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?
:p

They are getting thin on the ground unfortunately and soon they will be a rare sight
Too true - although there are still a few on the road round my way. The enthusiastic owners will give a little wave or beep.
Sadly, there are a couple of examples I’ve seen recently that are literally run into the ground with no preventative maintenance carried out.

Finally feel justified spending money on the remapping !
Long drive down south to a lovely farm house/bungalow AB&B mostly motorways

We do like a road trip and my freelander is a pleasure to drive ( apart from stop start traffic jams) and with the extra power and and low down power gains is very noticeable on the motorway
Not a %100 sure on fuel consumption as of yet with the top box but i think it’s a lot worse than last time we came down but i will fill up and do the math
But it averages 38mpg normally on a run
So anything close will be great 🥺

It was time to change the diesel fuel filter in my 2004 TD4. It wasn't so bad, now when you know what to expect. 😉

Finally got the gearbox back in tye FL1 after the engine replacement but after testing it drives fine but there is a grinding noise (FWD) only and a click from the left wheel when spinning with my hands so I guess that's next

Ok 🤨
Stupid place for it to be !
But like you say once you have done it its not bad just dirty job
Yes, it's fiddly. This time I just loosened the bolts holding the cradle and did everything from the wheel well. What I dont understand is why the tube is so tight for the filter, does it shrink due to plastic getting older??? Last time I lubed the filter but it's stuck there.
