My FL2 is only a gs so never had a centre armrest from new so three weeks ago when i bought the car, i ordered one from Amazon and it turned up today from China. Not the best fit-it needed fair bit of jigging around until i was happy but i got there in the end.

It does have five usb ports for charging phones etc.....which are not wired into anything which did make me laugh.:)

They supplied four additional screw which i couldn't work out what they were for until i realised they were thinking of me personally-i feel so loved! πŸ₯°


I suffered several strokes four years ago and my manual dexterity isn't good to say the least and i lost two screws down side of passenger seat.

Just arrived back from servicing the new one. 7+1/2 hours looking at the showroom lost its charm after about the third hour. Still, it's nice to have it back on track with a stamp. They even washed it

Not today, but over the last couple of weeks, I between weather, work and delivery issues, I decided to pull the cylinder head off the FL2. It's had coolant pressurising for a couple of years, but as it was only after it had been running for an hour or so, it never gave me too much trouble.
Anyway I got the head off to discover that the HG had split between the 3 adjacent cylinders (potentially the cause of the misfire too?), and there was evidence of combustion gasses passing to a coolant way.
Getting the head off was a game in itself, as 5 of the 12 the E12 Torx headed bolts broke off, so the bolt heads required drilling off. This was time consuming, as I couldn't risk breaking a drill in the bolt, but I got there eventually. Thankfully, once the heads had broken off the bolt threads, the threads unscrewed easily.
The head had some damage where the gasket failure has allowed combustion gasses to pass to the adjacent cylinders, so the head was re-faced. I took the valves out for the head work, so took the opportunity to lap them in while they out. I'm in the process of getting all 16 valves back in, and fingers crossed, hope to have the engine back together this week, as it'll be going to a new owner once I've proven it's working correctly.
 
A mixed day today. Bad news is the drivers window cable went but that's easy and cheap though. It'll be the third time I've done that one on this car, along with the other four! The good news though is I picked up this....View attachment 324400
That looks pretty.
It would make sense to replace all the suspension links with shiny new ones now, as the bushes will be worn. ;)

The Meyle dampers I fitted to mine were blue although slightly darker.

Not much and not today. Yesterday, i ceramic coated the bodywork using Meguiars ceramic hybrid wax after first applying several coats of Autoglym super resin polish. Autoglym will always be my first choice because no other brand can come close to its shine and ease of use but its only a showroom polish so adding ceramic coating over the top helps it last longer.

Can't get a photo of my pavement princess cos its tipping it down.:)
 
Learned how to crimp this weekend, so naturally that was a trip to Halfords for the tool followed by toolstation when I messed up one of the connectors.

Worth the time, the right one wasn't working at all before

Recently changed the power steering reservoir and flushed 2L of titan chf202 hydraulic oil through it to give the system a clean with the propper oil. I lifted the front end to take the weight oft the tyres so I could turn the steering wheel with the engine oft, to pump the oil round the system. Oil that came out was darker than the new stuff.
 
Finally stripped down my old TD4 engine with the broken crank for spares. Will post some photos and the block is damaged where the crank floated about but for a 135k engine it is really mint. No noticeable wear on bearings, bores or anything really.

Now have 3 boxes of all the bits from it for spares. The bits you just can't find. Also took photos as a training exercise. Nice to see inside and around the engine while nothing the vehicle.
