Nearside window decided to go down only but not up while driving home yesterday... So pulled the door card out, motor was fine so before I checked the wiring I thought I'd check the switches - swapped them over and it started working again so now gotta hunt a spare one down online...
Also pulled the roof off to see how it worked... Want to make some kind of shower cover for it as I can't afford the £300 originals on eBay.
Hi, can you send a pic of the switch you need? If they're the same as the facelift models I may have one 'kicking' about you can have for the postage.

Hello Andy, thanks for the offer, I appreciate it. Please see attached pic of the window switch, the cover comes off the module so I could also use an alternative switch module such as the sunroof or back window switch, and swapping the covers over.
Mine is a 52 plate pre-facelift model so be interested to know if the switches are the same?
Hi, the facelift window switches are all in the drivers door card & are more rounded, having said that I'm sure I've got a tailgate window/sunroof switch for the FL (& my D2, which have the same switches for it's sunroofs), I'll look shortly.

I'll check they all work OK tomorrow on both the FL tailgate gate window & D2 sunroofs/windows. If your switch is still out could you compare/check the slots on your window harness connector is the same (or the back of the switch) as the picture please ? Cheers & I'll keep you posted.

Hello Andy, thanks for your help, they look perfect but I'll double check tomorrow to be sure. I don't suppose you have any heated seat switches as well so you? Passenger side has gone on mine so I've been keeping an eye out for those too but they don't come up for sale much.
Hi, no heated seat switches I'm afraid. If you go to any of the LR spares days there's a good chance of finding them there. Also at the Billing LR show, June 29th & 30th there's normally a stall there that has FL1 parts only (just about) so could be worth a trip.

Just regarding the heated seat button, my passenger side one wasn't working when I got my Freelander.
I was in the same situation as you, none available anywhere so I tried just taking it apart and giving it a good clean (it was covered in goop) has been working perfectly ever since!

New boots.
Dug out the 16" rims from the shed and now shod with some Toyo AT3's in 205R16.
Stock suspension and they fitted straight on with no mods or spacers. They certainly give the Freelander a better stance, to the point that you have to wonder why Land Rover never offered this size in something like a "Cross Country" pack. Combine this with say a 20mm lift and it makes the Freelander quite a different proposition.
On road they seem to run very well. Haven't checked mpg yet, but not expecting much difference here. Good news the speedo is now far more accurate. Indicated 30mph = 29gps and indicated 50mph = 49gps!
Need to try it off road next. You can really tell the increased ride height stepping into the vehicle, so I'm hoping it will have had a positive effect in reducing how easy it is to dig the nose in or get beached. Crawl speed will be up sadly, but relatively speaking probably not all that different, but won't know until I try it out.
Glad I removed the old tyres. One had started going flat, but on removal all 4 had failed and cracked around the inside sidewall!!!
The old tyres are Coopers. I've heard some horror stories on Cooper tyres exploding and tbh seeing what has happened to these I don't think I'll be rushing to buy Coopers anytime soon.

How old were the Coopers ? Should have a date stamp on the sidewall.New boots.

Not sure on the age, need to check. They aren't "that" old if you know what I mean. We certainly have tyres that are a lot older and are still perfectly fine.

They worked out pretty good price wise over here. £344.95 delivered for a set of 4. About as cheap as any other tyre of similar size or tread pattern.

Well the freebie got through the MOT... Only comment from the mechanic was that after he had dug through all the mud underneath, he discovered some very light corrosion of the sub frame.
Wasn't a problem but I asked him how best to prevent it getting worse and recommend cleaning it up and putting waxoil on it. Is it my imagination or does waxoil have a bad rep on these forums? Not something I've used before so be interested to know any opinions on whether to use or avoid.
