Unpicked an HSE loom to identify where the LR reverse sensors and module are wired in ready to migrate it to the sport.
That's a lot of work Andy. When my PDC sensors fail, I just replaced the whole system with an aftermarket kit, which cost less than 1 LR sensor. The sensors were nicer too, as they fitted flush to the bumper.

All week I have been getting in the F2 and enjoying the smell of the leather and wafting to work, knowing that, if I dab the right peddle, I can fly to work ;)

Today, Mrs Grumpy can have choice of cars. If she wants the F2, I can enjoy an engaging fun drive to work in the F1.

I really will enjoy either.
 
Finally found someone who could clone a key chip. My TD4 Sport came with one key and that always makes me worried! I disabled the missing key slot in the security system in case someone still has it then got a cloned chip and key made.

Well, since my post I've done more investigating. You were quite right about not being able to weld them for MOTs. I've found someone doing powder coated ones for £375, but I don't want to go down that route as my experience of powder coating is that once damaged (or not) moisture behind the coating can cause rapid corrosion. Anyway some local sand blasting chaps will blast one for me and spray with zinc primer and paint for £60. I can then add what ever coating i want. I just need to get hold of a second hand one somewhere.
I have one shot and primed not sure myself what to coat it with the spare wheel carrier was powered and I am really pleased with it

Rustoleum paint is pretty hard wearing, I've used this one a lot over the years.


It's available in lots of colours but from what I've seen the gloss is tougher than satin.

I think powder coating for the spare wheel carrier is a good option, but I wouldn't be overly keen for it on the subframe as its more likely to get scratched or damaged and then you can end up with unseen corrosion, and it's difficult to repair damage satisfactorily. What state was that subframe in before you got it?
 
Installed a ledbar below the license plate. Hope I'm able to keep awake tonight until it's dark enough (after 21:00) to go for a test ride.

I am probably putting it on the next bank holiday weekend so need to paint or coat it i have poly bushes and all new arm's for the back suspension plus a recon diff well new oil seals and a fresh coat of paint on the back plate was going to buy second hand rear hubs but the ones on it are extremely clean

I shall do the rear arms too, and probably with poly bushes too. My diff and hubs will stay as is though. I polyed the diff front mount a few years ago.
 
Had the simultaneous delight of knocking another job off the list with a replacement front caliper fitted making the world of difference, only to discover another job to add to the list. LH driveshaft inside boot split. Most annoying given that it is a GKN shaft that is less than two years old. Damn those expensive replacement parts being no better than the cheap ones!
 
If it's perished that's poor for genuine & only a years warranty, even ****part give two on some of their bits, not looked at FL drive shafts though.

I've found the original LR hard rubber type CV boots last much longer than the soft rubber type. However all rubber components now seem to last no time compared to the originals fitted to the vehicle. It seems rubber has changed, and not for the better.
 
Fitted a new throttle body and did the air flow calibration, before it went into the garage to have a replacement rear diff (from Bell Engineering) fitted.

Massive difference to how it drives now, so much smoother and lot less noise.
