Neither intentionally nor with any effort but it's there now and whoever pulls it free will be crowned king of England

Replaced that with the spare... also pulled apart most of the boot, subwoofer lid is detached, carpet retainers unscrewed but seems the carpet is now trapped under the sides which I haven't yet figured out how to release

Just another thought flashed in my head, is @Bounty now Merlin?

After I got the temperature sensor mod I'm sure some would think so!

Release the 4 hooks by turning anti clockwise. Pull the rear door seal away from the side panels. If it's a 5 door, then remove the luggage cover and remove the screw from the cover bracket. Move the back seats forward and remove the clasp hoops. I think the seat belt lower bolt needs removing too. The side panel will then pop off it's retaining pins, if it's given a tug. ;)

I'd have never found those screws! So close.. well, the lower seatbelt bolt should come off to remove the panel but I only needed the carpet, releasing it from the loadspace loops and some good pulls got it free from underneath. Semi sunny day so it should dry now. Kind of like the bare metal look in the back, but alas...


No sign of the water ingress, but at least it's dry now

Sold one of the fleet. TD4 manual. Gone oversea to Wales. Well, he drove it round the roads to get there!!

Found out my TD4 auto needs an Mot. Really crept up on me this year!! Plan is to refurb and make beautiful underneath, but not enough time as it is due Monday!

So, another experiment, cleaned brake pipes back to shiny metal and painted with cold galvanising paint. See if that can hold back the Devon damp and rust!

Also, found another sticking disc slider. Another one with rubber on had stuck, so replaced with plain sliders.
Stripped and rebuilt rear brakes and handbrake now on the button.

Let's see what else they find wrong!!
 
Sprayed the underside, found the leak around the edges of the recess, popping underneath in a min to rescue the 10 plastic pins before they get melted during welding. Now that the thing is completely disassembled I'm going to scrub off the plastic too with some kitchen brillo wire
 
Changed the power steering fluid reservoir. From what I've read, not a bad idea on a 10 year old FL2. Will gradually replace the fluid over the coming weeks...
 
Gave her a courtesy wash inside and out as she's going to the garage tomorrow to have the cat welded back together...
 
Just discovered the glovebox has a light in it, so reconnected the cables to the terminals, and hey presto, a 2.5" illuminated box!

Now if only I knew what was wrong with the hazard switch led... Originally I didn't think it lit up, as it never did in 9 years of driving her, but then, completely randomly on the motorway one night, there she was, lit up in all her glory. Worked great for a couple of weeks, then back to no light as she was before...
 
My 171k miles TD4 failed its Mot on 3 things.
Tiny hole in rubber boot on track rod end, fair enough. Fitted new rod end.
Anti roll bar moved to one side, fair enough, now fitted new clamp rings and new bushes.
However, it failed on the rear VCU bearing as having 'play' in it. There is no play in it, just gone to all the work of changing the bearing and there really is nothing wrong with it. Slight cracks in the rubber but certainly no play.
Guess it wasn't my hippo's day!

All sorted and back for free retest.
