Thanks nodge.I just followed the instructions I’m not fussy left or right I did underestimate doing it though bloody rusty bolts and I was shocked at the inner arches so that added a bit more time.
 
New Tyres all round finally fitted today. Yokohama GO15 with tracking done too

What a difference this has made to ride comfort and noise . Very nice tyres .

I like Yokohama tyres myself. It always amazes my by the number of tyre fitters that seem to ignore the tyre identifying dots. The yellow dot should be by the valve, unless the wheel has a low spot, where the red dot should be positioned, but that's unlikely with an alloy rim.
 
Got my cb radio wired in and mounted and got the rear window dog guard fitted.

Today I had to repair the rear door handle, after the wife went out in the car with friends. :(
She complains because I don't like her using it, but something always goes wrong when she does.

The handle needed some spare flat bolts and glue to make it secure again. I took the opportunity to replace a rusty spring in the handle too.

That’s a rusty spring,had you changed the other one before or is it just the one side that suffers more?

The one I changed had broken, so I replaced it. I couldn't be bothered to make another one for the other side. As the new one is stronger, it won't matter when the rusty one breaks.
 
Went to change the centre brake light bulb today and rounded off one of the torx screws - damn it. Any tips on how to undo it now?
 
Had Jamie from Jc tuning out today for a mobile diagnostic for smoke on start up and ruff starting the parameters where a mile out with the cr tuning box,so disconected that all back near enough apart from a lazy low pressure pump and a very very slight leak on injectors.
 
Today I noticed a scrapping sound as I braked and turned right at the bottom of a 20% hill. I replicated the sound again in a car park close to work. It did it again on the way home, this time without braking. So I decided to investigate before needing the car for work in the morning. The sound appeared to originate from the nearside front, so figured that's a good a place to investigate.

I took the wheel off and spotted the potential source of the scrapping noise. I serviced the front brakes in September 2016, just before the MOT. I fitted new Delphi discs and pads, as I've always had good results from them.
Delphi pads are fitted with an extra soft iron backing plate, which is bonded to the pad backing material. Well it seem that the glue between the layers has broken down, as the iron backing has slipped against the disc bell. I couldn't actually see any evidence of contact, but it was definitely in contact when I looked. So I stripped the pads out, removed the iron backing and refitted the pads. I also noticed that the actual friction material is beginning to crumble and pit. I've never had a problem with Delphi before, so I'm wondering if I've picked up a set of fakes? I'll order a replacement set of pads to replace these ones with.

For the moment, I'm hoping that I've cured the noise, I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

The offside was fine, which adds to the mystery somewhat.

I also identified the annoying creaking sound I've had for 18 months. It appears to be from the ARB bushes, which is annoying as they're 18 months old. I'm swapping those for poly, which won't creak in future.

I also discovered that the drop links have perished boots, so that's less then 12 months for those. As I got cheap ones for last MOT. This time I'm fitting Delphi instead.
 
Had a complete fail changing the low pressure pump and filter yesterday. had a slight weep from the top of the filter before changing.Fitted all back together started it up and it’s ****ing out,the seal inside the connector had a nip in it from the old filter as it has a indentation on it.

Could the calliper pistons be sticking a little and causing extra heat on one side? Never had a problem with any of their stuff.

Delphi are an OE supplier, so I always try to use them and never had a problem with their pads.

The pitting is strange, but I've done quite a lot of of off road work, so that might be the reason. The pistons are free and I do check disc temperatures every few months, which shows nothing untoward.

As it happens, the noise has been identified is coming from the nearside rear, so No2 daughter said this morning. So tonight I'll be stripping the rear drum off, as I suspect one of the shoes has come adrift. However as I rebuild the rear brake assembly at the same time as the fronts, it's a bit of a mystery.
Investigation will continue, especially as the MOT is just round the corner.

Keeps you busy I’m spending my birthday in a scrap yard trying to find that connector do you know what year they changed the location of the pump and filter?
