Freelander hasn't needed anything doing, but took the 'backup' Starlet for its WOF (MOT) today. It failed on a couple of bulbs, a tyre, the drivers seat being unsafe and the quarter glass in the rear passenger door not being glass (it was broken by a low-life breaking into it and I've 'filled' it with a bit of plastic). A front CV is shockingly bad, the 2 front windows (manual wind) are broke, and the fan belt or something on it is crying something cronic. Mrs Grumpy suggested it might be time to get rid and replace it - GREEN LIGHT
The engine/box/clutch are sound and its only done 125k miles. Its a '92 1.3EFI that we've owned for 15 years and its needed next to nothing in that time. Its probably worth $1,000 (£500) fixed and warranted and the bits to fix it will be under that.. but I'm not sure I can be arsed to do all that work.
So, looking to out it and get another Freelander - something I don't mind spending a bit of time on and something I can pimp a bit for off road capability. As its for off road, I fancy an auto so that means TD4 or V6. I don't fancy fuelling a V6 or driving that hot engine into a river or having the HG go in the middle of nowhere - so that means TD4. There's a few options around at the mo as well.
This one is knocking 200k miles and is a long way away so would cost a bit to get here, but I have a good red bonnet and head lining on the parts car...

This one's even further away and similar high mileage, but a higher spec, dunno what it will go for, possibly as high as $5k which would not be an option...

This one's a local low-miler, shame its manual...

Shame the L Series doesn't come with an auto option...

There's a few L Series in good nick for sale at the mo, but they want to much cash.
