It might be worth trying to tighten up the bolts first. They are fitted with lots of thread lock so if you do need to replace them the bolts will fight you to the end. :(
I used a standard spanner to remove mine and had no issues apart from the constant stream of swearing as I fought them. My torx sockets are 1/2" and were too big to fit.
My 2 centre ones are torx bolts so I will bite the bullet and buy a set of female sockets

Get 3/8" rather than 1/2" if you can. Like I said my 1/2" torx sockets didn't fit as there isn't much room. Using a spanner was my cheapo answer.
BTW I've removed and refitted 4 or 5 props using 1/4" sockets on the torx bolts with no problems.

Cheapskate! I used (probably imperial) sockets to remove and replace the prop the first time - but torx are used quite a bit on Freelander so bought myself a set of torx sockets after that. Admittedly I haven't used them much, but they do make life easier - and more reliable.

Got round to breaking the prop shaft to replace vcu support bearings. Back shaft took 5 minutes, the front shaft was a sod and it was only when I realised I needed a bigger hammer that I got it off. WD40 on the bearings and will give them a go tomorrow.

Don't believe it
The master cylinder is leaking again !!
At the clutch pedal but now my gears are more or less impossible
The clutch arm is fine moves back and forth with no effort 2 fingers
I don't know if there a crap make or there is more to it
They last a couple of days then caput it starts leaking

I used to think Bearmach stuff was OK. Now I don't.
If you don't want to go for OEM from somewhere like Rimmers then maybe try ordering a kit from a local car parts shop. At least you can easily take it back if it fails.

I don't have a problem with pedal height it just leaks at the seal on pedal end after 2 days
I'm going to look for a different supplier
The two I've put on are obviously cheaply made crap

You’ll be an expert on exchanging them now:rolleyes: good luck with your new one
I've just been told that the pressure plate could have stiffened over time and that could be blowing the seals in the master cylinder
So now I'm looking for a clutch just in case lol

Hopefully not :)but does make sense, you have a lot more patience then me,I’ve spat my dummy out with mine just because I can’t get the mg mirror to work right

I'm in to minds now to change the clutch or drive it and see if it leaks again but then if it does it's more expense I just can't understand why the slave doesn't break instead of the master
Also the gearbox looks hard to remove lol

I really wouldn’t fancy getting that involved in the car, little bits and pieces are enough for me :)
