Today I managed to finally free the IRD filler plug with a bolt remover socket so I can finally change the oil!!!! Failed MOT on track rod ends but will get them done and retested on Friday so happy days. Running very well at the moment. Got Freelander driving light pod kit to fit at weekend. Bought whole brand new Landrover kit for £26 on Ebay would have been rude not to buy it. They do look like James Bond missile launchers though. Oh well maybe I can find the missiles on EBay too

If I were you I'd put her through MOT and ask at least £1500. £950 is a steal for that car.

It looks good to me. I would have thought it would go for more? If it doesn't I am going to really stop putting expensive crap on mine

Today I got the MOT on my 06 TD4 FL . Failed on Weds needing the track rod ends and steering joint replaced so all done, retested and passed and also driving very well. I have ordered Muddy Mods rear silencer as a celebration. Also have worked out a way to secure rear load space solid shelf closed with soft top down but had to order a couple of fixings. Tomorrow IRD oil change finally as managed to move filler plug with bolt remover socket; that was locked on good; and hopefully will get driving light pod kit fitted in next couple of days. I really have to stop working on it the neighbours are taking the pi55 when they see me outside near it now. Freelanders Anonymous maybe?

Yesterday I changed the IRD oil finally, checked and glad I did the gearbox oil and topped that up as very low, greased all the gearchange linkage and all suspension links. Big dent in the metal sump guard I have made and put on made me glad I had done that too. Loosened silencer bolts in prep for MuddyMod replacement coming next week; constructive day. Today if I can will start fitting driving lights but going for forest drive with soft top down. Happy days

Replacing both front discs and pads, both caliper guide pins on the drivers side were seized, and the inside brake pad was almost down to the metal. The disc was a pig to get off, but I got there in the end using the bolts through the caliper carrier holes trick. The near side disc didn't need any persuasion, once I got off the carrier bolts which were well rusted and rounded as well, it pulled off no problem. The caliper guide pins on this side were worse than the first side, and I will need to get a new carrier as the top guide pin sheared when I was trying to loosen it...:(

REDUCED HER TO £850 She needs to go but I would like her to go to someone
that will look after her and enjoy her..

I had trouble getting disks off last time and resorted to this.

I used an angle grinder to cut the disk as far as I could then hammered the chisel into the slot. With very little effort it cracked right through and was easy to take off.

That's another one of those jobs that I start doing thinking 'looks alright what can go wrong?' . My wife laughs at me now when I say 'will only take an hour' . If I made my living fixing Freelanders I would be a lot thinner. And poorer.

Most of the time, discs come off easily. However there are the odd occasions when more persuasive methods of removal are needed.
