Rubbed down rear passenger door and quarter panel I sprayed last week. Really chuffed how well it looks.
Gone from a 5-6 pace paint job to a three pace paint job. :p

Went across the US border today to pick up my replacement Coolant recovery tank.
The old one cracked at the neck. It was only a year old but was an aftermarket tank.
This time I paid extra and got a factory tank. Here's hoping there was no other damage caused.

Edit: Got the new tank installed yesterday evening. The only issue was the plastic scrivet that holds it in place broke getting the old tank out. I installed a rivnut then spent an hour trying to find a 4mm machine screw to fit. That took longer than the entire job!
I let the Hippo run until it was up to temp today and there were no issues. I will have to re-insure it and take it for a good run to see if there are any other issues caused by the bad tank.

Picked it up from the garage again today. Fairly pleased though. I was driving home last Thursday when the engine developed a horrendous knocking noise. I feared the worst. Timing chain, stuck valve(s), crankshaft. All sorts were going through my mind. A closer inspection - and a bit of reading up on here - led me to the conclusion that the crankshaft pulley had failed. As I don't really have the facilities for much more than basic maintenance I booked the car in. The garage could only look at it today but they were soon to confirm my diagnosis. New pulley and both auxiliary belts done today and I picked up the machine and enjoyed a super smooth drive home. A few quid lighter of course, but the belts were overdue so I don't need to be sorting those now.

Tried to swap my faulty two year old radiator with a s/h replacement from a slightly later model 1.8 K series. Ah Ha! they are different! The earlier rad's are 45cm in high The later ones are taller @48cm and that is the same size as the V6 rad'. I'm in discussions with the supplier in the UK [LRD] who tell me that the part had a one year warranty so not able to help. I've raised the points of suitable quality and fit for purpose and being sold by a reputable supplier. Awaiting their response. The original rad' lasted 17 years - so just on two years is not good enough.:(

You might have local manufacturers who can make a rad to suit. I've bought several that way for various cars.

I have seen new locally manufactured ones listed on our local auction site.

However this one is interesting... http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/landrover/auction-1324170668.htm

It shows only one part number for all FL1's, but I do know many parts changed for MY01, as it sounds for @htr 's comment.
If they can confirm it will fit your car it should be fine. They might make them small enough to fit all models and use an adapter kit for the taller ones. Much better though if you can get one locally as it is much easier to return if it doesn't fit.

Today I replaced rear brake shoes, cleaned drums and Hammerited them. Not sure self adjusters set right as hand brake not adjusting itself on any great hurry so may have to have another look? Anyone know if adjusters need pre-setting at all? Also torqued up diff bushes replaced last weekend, greased UJs on propshaft and painted bits of sub chassis that I started. MOT Tuesday so hoping not too much awry. IRD oil to change next week sometime. If filler plug plays along but I am prepared for trouble......

Hi, you may have heard this 100 times but before I made a metal bolt on sump guard I used to undo the 2 bolts for the plastic undertray to the sub chassis, then I had about 2 foot of 4 inch plastic rectangular profile gutter, undid the sump nut after positioning gutter from under sump drain there along the now pulled down undertray to an appropriate container on the floor underneath. So only ever undid those 2 bolts instead of whole stupid plastic undertray and never made a mess either. If you see what I mean. Oh, this was supposed to go after someone saying about wrestling with plastic tray; sorry if I messed that positioning up. Not been on this thread before although obviously should have as there aren't many days I am not doing something to my FL haha

I fitted a Ronbox. Much swearing at trying to find the rear left oil filter cover bolt. Got it all back together, then found that the little grey knob on the Ronbox had fallen off and disappeared somewhere into the bowels of the engine. Ordered a replacement spindle from Ron.

Need to order a stupid key for the stupid security bolts on the MAF, and then take the s***** oil filter cover off again.

But, pleased with the result, and it's the first time I've waved a socket at the FL, so now the bits I've read about replacing the EGR valve, upgrading to a lone filter, etc, make more sense.

Off to the seaside tomorrow for a few days so I give it my full attention cleaning

Hope you mean air filter. :p
It's got to be the stupidest design ever, Whoever had my car before me managed to damage the little channel on the LHS so it wouldn't sit in properly. Instead of sorting the issue they just didn't bother doing the rear bolts up.
This was the result.
