Took my front brakes apart only to find the guide pins are rusted and shagged. New disks, pads and guide pins on order.

I haven't even seen mine for days....... I will get it back after I have MOTed a seat ibiza. There is something wrong with my world!

mine's in hospital
visited with a get-well-soon-even-though-yer-costing-me-an-arm-'n-a-leg card
'n after a friendly chat with the doctor .. took off in a fl2 sd4 for a few days ..

Installed new MAF sensor, new gas filter, new air filter and installed new rear wiper. Next will be the oxygen sensor. Dam car is burning fuel like a Hummer.

Upper engine mount changed to poly.

Changed over steering wheel, went from a knackered leather one to a half wood (got for a total bargain) then had to retro fit the loom from old to new and move over the radio controls (taking a template from the old and cutting into the new) - everything works as it should and sets the car off nicely :D

Waiting on the VCU to arrive and then its time to wrap up warm and hide underneath for a little bit

Got the Jatco box fluid changed by a local garage last week. Last night the box packed up with the 1st/4th gear only thing. I read the fault code and checked what the problem was and nearly shat my pants when I found out I was looking at the possibility of an £800-£1000 bill. The absolute relief I felt though - thanks to this forum with a quick search - was unreal today. Checked a couple of threads on the subject and found some advice on issues to check first. Found that the garage has obviously disturbed a connector which I was able to click back in place this afternoon and all is well. Invaluable this place is.

Cleaned out the rear brake drums of built up dust and also checked why the handbrake is not very good, everything seemed fine inside so it may need adjusting which I will take a look at over the next few days if possible, cleaned up the drums while I am waiting on some new ones to arrive Arctic2

Took the Freelander for its Warrant (MOT) today - passed :)

Funny thing happened though. Took the Starlet up as well and the bloke said it has failed on the high brake light - he showed me - put his foot on the brake and I went round the back and sure enough the high (middle) brake light was out. "Give it a thump" he said - so I whacked the back window and hey presto it came on. "That'll be a pass then" he said :)

we got a tester like that locally..;)
each time I run a car in to him he charges the same, pass or fail. but after the free retest or if its a straight pass I always tip him a tenner (£10)
if its a headlight out of adjustment, he`ll do his best to reset it.
they (testers) get an hour to do the test now, so cant rush the VOSA printout of pass or fail, so he gets a bit of time for a chat in between.....

the guy wont let anything go, but uses his disgresion on certain things...
but does like his "advisories" section like - my lexus passed no problems, but put down as advisories "cant see brake pipes due to underbody covers" (streamlining) just covers his a$$ I guess ......but happy days..
took 2 goes to get my daughters KA in a week before my lexus.....
but then shes had it 5 years and does big miles in it..
runs sweet as a nut, but was shocked at the milage reading for this years MOT
(its put down for each year now) was put as 3459 or something = 103.459`ish miles, now on 2nd time going round and still runs just great......
