Old wheels
 
Bought and fitted these.
15" x 7" Grizzly alloys (from a brand I won't mention..) covered with 225/75 R15 Colway C-Trax AT.
Fitted with plastic spigot rings, then an excellent fit.

Need to buy some 55mm Land Rover centre caps for them now to finish the job.

Not bad, just some more tweaking, mode switch for everyday driving ect :D

Installed bluetooth for streaming music. Didn't want to pay for a new headunit with bluetooth, so got an AUX cable for my existing radio (modular plug, goes in the back of headunit, 5 EUR), found a leftover Belkin bluetooth receiver. It runs on 5V. Found an old Nokia charger, in-line fuse and some other parts. Now I can play wireless music from my iPod (and others from their phones etc). "Stole" power from the fusebox, hid the receiver in the ashtray (and cables behind center console) :rolleyes:

Geepers. Is this from the L Series? What you done to get that output?

Yup - good old L-series ;)

What done?
-A little play with fuel quantity
-22 PSI peak boost, 19 PSI Constant
-Wastegate controlled by MBC pressure type valve
-Solid air intake with high flow filter
-No EGRr and other stuff
-Exhaust (tested with borrowed sport cat)
-insulated exhaust manifold
-10W60 sport oil
-HD clutch and pressure plate

It's still on stock injectors.

We need to refine some details now. Exhaust need to be done (full SS). He also needs a mode select switch (standard and power mode). Oil cooler must be added, and better flow for IC (as it outputs about 50-55 deg - probably it will be watersprayed with Devil's Own stuff). Also cam will be changed and probably valves replace.
VP37 works great - no future mods to this one.

For now it's a big test range :D but through winter everything will be known and new season will be "Faster" . I would like to set it up like modern cars. When mode switch is off it drives like stock, good condition engine. When pressed - additional power and torque is available.

Wow, in 2 posts from you (checking out that website) and Winu, my L Series has gone from rugged, reliable, tractor engine to street racer engine :) Not quite 200HP T Series Turbo power, but plenty more than I thought you could get out of the old girl !

I loved the L Series before today, but now I love it even more. Looks like I will have to start tinkering :)

There is another reason for me doing it. I'd love a t series. L bolts straight in and you can lower the final drive to compensate for my big tyres. Making it better off road and on

Our requirements seem quite similar. I have a '99 L Series which, although its getting on, is our '1st car' and the wife won't let me 'do stuff' to it. Plus, although its in good nick and low-milage - the IRD went last year and I rebuilt it, at the time in anger at the VCU, as a 2WD.

But I need a 4WD for fishing, skiing etc - this year has been a big compromise! I could have got a nice looking 300TDI Disco last week for $3K which is less than L Series Freelanders sell for over here - but I love the L Series and Freelanders and am hanging it out for a L Series in need of a bit of TLC that I can buy and turn into my 'go anywhere' truck. I don't have too many requirements, but I really need to get tyres on it that are big enough so it won't sink in gravel beaches. A boost in power will be great cos in standard spec it is lathargic. I can't compromise economy too much cos some of my fishing grounds are a 3 hour drive away.

Sitting next to our Freelander on the drive is my son's 220 Turbo. He gets all the gain, and I get all the pain keeping it on the road for him and spending out dosh on maintenance! One day he might just get in it and find the motor's gone :)
 
I've considered k series turbo and T series both would be amazing fun. K would implode within a year, T much more reliable but not a straight swap, cos I've got massive tyres and 2" lift, a tuned L series makes sense especially with a lower final drive, spares or repair on eBay they're peanuts here
