Just a few bits to be getting on with !
The top shock mounts are for the front when I can get the matching dampers (no stock at the mo). @Nodge68 I took your advice & ordered some new KYB springs, as on reflection the ones on it have done 173,000 so just waiting for those to turn up.:)

My springs turned up today so I set about removing the old unit & in the 'there's always one' saying, the top bolt where it mounts to the hub has taken about two hours to remove + two tins of penertrating spray ( I had removed both the nuts yesterday & gave them a soaking over several hours prior to todays work), obviously you can't heat hub or bash seven tonnes of ****e out of the bolt but got there in the end luckily the bottom one only took about fifteen minutes.
On another note has anyone used these camber adjust bolts (see pic)?
I got them when I got the car back in 2017 & had the tracking done (after powerflexing all the suspension bushes & fitting new tyres) & they said the rear camber was out but never got around to fitting them. I've got new std bolts/nuts but thought I might fit these whilst I'm here as I need to have it re- tracked after this lot.

Typical put the old & new FL rear suspension units in the D2 to take to a mate who's letting me use his hydraulic press to get the suspension units sorted for refitting, fired it up & the fudging battery light come on & it's only showing 11.7 volts on the meter when running :mad: so with both LR's off the road I've had to use the wife's Mitsubishi to take the suspension to be sorted, better buy a lottery ticket, my lucks got too change soon.

Brought some "stuff" home from work to spray all the lichen growing on the canvas cover for my boat. So thought I'd get rid of it from the car to - wiper blade, window frames, roof channels mainly. Hope it doesn't eat the paint!
 
90 rubble sacks full of bad quality soil / bricks disposed of at the tip over 8 trips on Thursday. My back is still sore, today!
Should have hired a skip, but I was being tight trying to recoup some of the money spent on getting the Freelander running again recently.
 
Refitted the original rubber inlet hose - AF to throttle body - and fitted a silicone 90º bend into the AF. That aluminium flexi-pipe had a split and when I took it off it was starting to delaminate inside with small flakes of aluminium hanging down.

Jeepers, that's a strange looking beast of a filter. Did you make it up from a dog collar? :D

Today I did my weekly top up of the coolant for the week's commute down to Leeston. 1/2 a liter today, which is about the norm.

@GrumpyGel - it's basically a K&N Cone filter "induction kit" that boy racers fit, fitted in a housing to keep it a sealed airbox meaning it can be plumbed in to draw in cold air from outside the engine bay rather than the usual big filter sucking in hot air from the enginebay. @htr - have you got a link to the kit you used?

You right. It's just the K&N Apollo filter with the original rubber connection from the A/F to the throttle, The silicone elbow goes down and then out through the engine bay wall to the CAF I made up some time ago. Yes that is 65mm PVC spouting down-pipe! It wouldn't be hard to add a snorkel to that now - not really for wading but to help get clear of the dust...

Heater matrix. The more frequently I top up, the wetter the passenger side carpet gets :oops:
Heater matrix? Ouch! That's a job that totally doesn't know who it's father is ( ie: it's right a bas7@rd)... i'd have a play with some of the "radweld" type compounds. Best case, no more soggy carpets, worst case, wasted money and or some coolant lines that need cleaning?

nice work! I'll keep the apollo up my sleeve as an alternative to the BMC kit.
 
Sorry to hear, I presume you've tried Radweld or an equivalent.
No I haven't. I don't like the idea of putting that stuff in the cooling system.

When I get completely fed up with it I'll sort something out. I won't be taking the dash out as I had a dickens of a job just getting the central console out to replace the cigarette lighter (radio slide in frame jobbie was a PITA that I had to destory to get out - in fact that was only on the parts car to get the replacement, on the road car I simply left the broken one where it was, pulled the wires off, connected up the replacement, plugged in the dash cam, wrapped it all in bubble wrap and tucked it up behind the paneling. I also don't fancy a million squeaks after it all goes back.

I'll think of something else.
