Re painted my interior door handles using ford champagne gold ..... Look ok and much better than the old scratched version
 
Made my clock I destroyed trying to fix into something pretty.....

collected the Freelander from the garage after head gasket change, was getting bubbles in the expansion tank :( so had the new complete kit fitted with n series gasket and up rated oil ladder and bolts ( cam belt and water pump needed doing anyway so not too bad ) so good to have it back :) runs a dream now. last gasket lasted 10 years so hope this one does too if not longer
 
Fitted wiring for a leisure battery and some exterior lights above the back door
Fitted some netting to boot windows to help shade the dog
Routed CB antenna cable through gromet in back door into the boot

Likely to stay that way until about mid September. I have the Escort for when it rains and its hardly a major job to re-fit it should I need to. I dont have the silly roofrack thing on mine so its just the four quick release clamps and away it goes.

In order to ease refitting and removal on my own and also to store the bloody thing out of the way I rigged a pulley to the garage roof to hoist the hard top up and allow it to be easily lowered back down.
Its a minor feck-about with the straps to support it - next time I see one in a hardware store I will buy a countersunk lashing eye for a trailer bed and fit it to the roof of the hard top so that I can just snap the carabiner onto it and hoist away.

found out the "saturation point" of the stock intercooler... and it happens after cruising along at 95mph for a few minutes it seems :lol:


Started with a bit of a light haze of smoke from the exhaust, building up (within about 20 seconds) into quite thick black smoke - due to the intercooler not being able to cool the air enough. Slowed down to 80mph, and it instantly cleared up.




Looks like a chargecooler is back on the cards then...
 
Does that MGF? induction set up make a difference to power/economy in a good way?

Where's the back bit of the cam belt cover?

Well it was the southern hemisphere Christmas yesterday, so hopefully you've got over your Turkey and are now ploughing through all the cold meats and mash. So time to play with the toys at the weekend :)

I'm afraid (thankfully) my weekend toy list is simply a bit of hose to put on the injectors.

BTW - I popped into Canterbury Landrover Spares today to pick up my weekend 'fun' and while there asked how much they could supply a VCU for - $2,000 lol (£1,000). Hope you got yours a bit cheaper.

Hi Grumpy, all those bits and freight $1061 + $206 GST.

That leak you're going to look at. It's not oil or coolant, could be fuel, not brake fluid, what about clutch fluid or PAS fluid?

Its an MG TF 135 manifold, the only metal one that has small ports. Bought it because my plastic one had warped and wouldn't stop leaking, and these can be had for £30-50 on the bay.

Interestingly it makes it pull a *lot* better on light throttle halfway through the rev range, not really had it long enough to notice an economy difference!

Left the cam covers off for that test run, the head gasket failure was behind the cam cover where water was dribbling out, so I wanted to be sure it had sealed! All of the covers are now back on!
 
put tow bar on not to us. just always wanted on pretty heavy bit of kits and 8 bolts to hold it in place.
