Brought a new Freelander. 06 plate hse with low miles. Really well looked after. The little bits that make the difference like all the exposed threads have a coat of wd40 on, all exposed brake lines have a bit of lube on them to protect them matching Pirelli all round and a brand new spare. I am always a bit doubtfull of buying a car with a worn spare because it means at one point the owners were to tight to buy two tyres so what else were they too tight for? Really was a nice example and really does drive like brand new.

Only one thing. I appear to have brought one without a fbh! I was sure all hse spec had them as standard but apparently not! I checked under the bumper and saw the hole and just assumed the exhaust was further inside.

So I think my freelander commercial will soon be for sale. Although I am using it whilst my L series is in pieces

It's nice to find a well looked after Freelander.
Does the 06 Freelander come into the highest tax band?

Wow that's more that some peoples yearly insurance premium..

Absolute disgrace, daylight robbery to take that much money:thumbdown::mad: bastards

As of October there will be no tax discs and you can pay monthly by direct debit. It should take the sting in the tail out of the price a little. Even though we pay enough tax on the fuel we all use.

No paper discs is why I havnt bought a nice shiny tax disc holder for my hippo even though the el cheapo one I have got hardly sticks to the screen.

£475 last year :D

Ouch. That hurt.

I wonder now the car has been remapped for better co2's I could get it reassessed and moved into a lower band?

That won't happen, partially because the DVLA won't let you, and also because the CO2 is so high over the 225g/Km threshold it still won't be anywhere near it!

Ironically, my car tax is the same as my insurance premium, £270 :D I'm only 25 too...

Put in for Mot a month early as never sure with it and passed with no advisories. 13 months before the worry of this again........:5bhurray: Couldn't find a smug smilie but this will do.

How do you only pay £270 for insurance??

I could buy an old Freelander every year with the money I spend on road tax and insurance.

I'm just over 50 with max ncb, but live in a high risk area.
