Got 5 new michelins all season 235/55/17 for the girl. Im getting a wierd vibration thoo. I know its not the prop bearings they were changed about a month ago and the tires are new. Only thing left is prop shaft or the brake shoes might be f-up and touching the rotor deal. Any input?
 
Opened my compartment in my boot to get a bulb out and found a lot of water!
Apparently me cleaning my boot seal last week caused it to leek! Grr
 
Hit a snow lump pretty hard trying to avoid some bloke trying to cut in front of me but failing, car came to a complete halt and the steering rack was crooked, went to centre the tires and do an alignment.

Finally got round to changing the line pressure solenoid in my auto box.
Changes are still lumpy when warm, but do seem to be better than they were.
I still think it's a fluid issue.
Have done around 1000 miles since the first change and about 100 miles since the most recent. Will do another after a bit more distance.

Oh and my cubby box was full of water - thought I'd fixed that but clearly not!
 
Fitted my EGR removal kit today

not a bad job to do until u get to the manifold cleaning kit

half a ltr of gunk and half a ltr of petrol later manifold as clean as i could get it and seems to be running a lot more responsive


while it was all apart checked as much of the turbo hose's as possible to find there not in the best of shape so needing to sell the 3 door roof rails now to fund silicone hoses

shortened turbo wastegate actuator rod, only 1 turn on the nut to be on the safe side.
turbo boost gauge is not a priority on the "to do list", maybe in the future I'll fit one so I can fiddle a bit more with it.

just hope MPG average doesn't drop
 
Decided to look at the tailgate lock as it wasn't latching all the time. I took the door card off to reveal a pretty much intact vapour barrier. The area by the lock was torn so someone had been there before.
I operated the door release button a few times to get a better idea of what the problem was.
I could hear the switch click and the lock motor run, however sometimes the motor didn't sound like it was running back to it's rest position. I decided to take the lock mechanism out for a better look. Getting these out of the door is a bit of a game due to the confined space it's in. Once out I tested it, it seemed ok but I noticed that the grease had begun to harden. I gave it a good soaking with WD40 as it's solvent works wonders on hard grease. Not really finding much wrong with the lock, I took the handle off.
The first thing I noticed was one of the 3 bolts had broken out of the handle. The next thing I found was one of the release lever return springs has broken, the broken section was jamming the lever. I had a dig through my springs box and found one that would work after a bit of a trim. I then drilled a couple of holes in the broken plastic bolt fixing so I could hold it with a couple of screws.
On fitting the repaired handle I discovered that the large rubber seal had swelled with age stopping it from fitting correctly. I cut a section out the middle to allow it to fit again.
Once done I resembled the door, I closed and opened the door more times than I cared to remember, it now works as it should.

Whilst door card was off I upgraded the front speakers to a set of fusion ones I had lying around. Also re painted the speaker grills as they were showing a little rust on them.

Took rear quarter panel off to have a look at rear speaker size and wether I could squeeze a 6x9 in.

Over the week Ive had new drop links, discs and pads put on...what a difference in stopping power and no more knocking over bumps.

PRT stat and pipes (grey one ...cheers Freelaner for the tip) going on tomorrow with a new coolant tank.

1st gear HDC switch going on too - hopefully the yellow hdc light will go out fingers crossed.
