Fitted rear light guards today.
That particular item was poked out 3 years ago.
I highly recommend anyone with a k series to do it
Measured my tow ball height. It is 480mm from the ground. This is quite high for towing a caravan, and will probably end up with the 'van being nose high.
Not good. Should really be between 350 & 420 according to an eu directive I understand.
There are two schools for thought on weather the jiggle valve should be left in or removed. I'd remove it myself. The K Series needs all the air removing water flow it can get!!
nothing, but i did look at it through the front window.
that's the rationale is use
plus if the jiggle seizes closed (which they are prone to) it will make the engine explode
The Freelander has a dodgy gearbox so went shopping in other half's 206 instead.
On the way home it became clear that every possible route was seriously flooded!
Eventually found a way through - most of the way anyway!
Had to abandon the car (and the shopping) and wade the last 500 yards in about 18 inches of water - missus had her wellies, mine were safely tucked up at home, so just socks for me (feckin freezing and loads of debris underfoot!)
Went back out with the Freelander - in 1st gear only - to collect my son (who had just driven home and abandoned his car at the same place) and the shopping.
Huge larf! Makes me realise how important my car is to me. Really need to get it sorted.
I don't understand why they used the jiggle valve really? It's not needed from what I can see, I certainly causes more problems than it should. The KV6 doesn't have it at all but has the same pipes in the cooling system in a similar place in the manifolds!!
it's not needed as far as i can see and more trouble than it's worth
it is, however when it's knocked out, a really good indicator of coolant flow as you can see it return into the expansion tank
That's exactly the same as the jiggle valve free KV6
reassuring int it?
Going off that, it would be too high even without the lift kit. Isn't it 350-420 when the caravan is attached? Stick something heavy in the boot
