So as my front brake stripdown and disc replacement continues, I decided I'd try and clean up the disc mud shields from the years of crud and rust from its previous use. Gave a couple of primer coats and a couple of black to finish it off. I know it's not perfect and it'll carry on rusting in the future, but it looks a lot better anyway.

All mine rotted away and as they were silly money, i binned them all.

Today I cleaned up the hub and swivel housing, removed the old railko bush with a bfh and had an attempt at rubbing down a couple of small pits in the swivel ball which I've now filled with an epoxy resin. It's sandable when hard (24 hours)so that's tomorrow's job, going down to very fine wet and dry.
Anyone else tried anything like this as a temporary ish fix? If so, did it work and for how long. Only small pits, nothing too severe.

Rebuilt my injectors last night on the 200tdi, sheered a stud torquing them up this morning as no/3 leaked

So this evening welded a nut on and got the stud out, new one coming tomorrow

Started to come in dark, was going to do my tappets/valve clearance but ran out of time,

Fitted a new rocker gasket as I've had one in storage for ages, lost the half moon pieces so it will probably still leak till I get some of those too.

I always keep a couple of them studs spare, I have sheared quite a few of them, but they always shear off with enough left sicking out to get them out with a vice grips luckily

Didn't want to chance the vice grips incase it was brittle and was just going to break away on me, anyway new studs here from craddocks, I feel like I should have bought 10 of them. Any tips for how tight to do the stud up? Think ive read somewhere it was something's like 3NM, or something pathetic, are we calling that a good nip up with the finger grips. Really should have bought some spares you can bet this one will break.

Behind on work so didn't fiddle till later, got the new stud in and fitted the injector back in, I was expecting new injector nozzles to make a massive difference, done nothing for speed, slower at the top end if anything, struggling to get 75mph (gps) but definitely picks up quicker , idle a bit smoother, and but more responsive in the middle range, pulling better. Really want to do tappets this weekend. Have a boost pin coming to play with also, and some new pipe for the turbo wastegate, need to clean the engine down then assess for leaks; suspect injectors 2 is not sealed properly, but after last time may order some more studs before reefin on it. Also fitted new jubilee clips to all the tubo hoses and checked all other jubilee clips for condition. Need to replace the fuel filter too just as for £4 it seems not a big expense and 6month ago some "farmers" desil (it was white! ) just about killed the engine (not enough power to get out of first, literally issue seemed to develop overnight)

I keep telling my lot that I should not be doing anything due to my "Andy Cap" syndrome but they don't listen, she is a good girl your daughter.
